When flashing the parts after base coat, is there any way to tell when flashed and not cured? Or only the certain amount of time in oven? Thx for and help
It depends on a lot of variables.. Some times it still feels a little wet when I touch it so I put it back in for a bit longer.. it also helps to let it cool before applying the next set of stencils. I wish I had a better explanation but it’s really just something you gotta feel out and try, fail and redo before you get the hang of it. Good luck!
I just bought the LMS 6450, newby also on the trade but been making many unfinished projects that I either messed up or did not finish because I was using a frankenmill floor drill. Did good work but finally found out that I had to buy a real milling mill to mill projects better. Hope you keep bringing out more videos
Perfect video!!! I’m getting ready to do this exact same thing on a Harley tank for someone and needed to see it done for guidance. Thank you!! That looks amazing
@@Project2Workshop I am starting a youtube channel when it gets a little warmer. I am building a 1928 Morgan Aero 3 wheeler special with 4 wheels. I am cassting an adapter out of aluminumm to mate an opposed twin aircraft engine to an MG 4 speed transmission and then to the diff and wire wheels. I am also going to be building a small brooklands style cyclecar with a BMW R-100 motor. I am recovering from being hit and wrapped around a telephone pole on my 1957 Panhead...nearly lost my right leg and am still fighting blood clots. I have been assembling a small machine shop consisting of a Southbend lathe, A burke number 4 milling machine that needs lots of tools and work. I found a drilling tapping station used in the 40's for airplane assembly. I just purchased a Bissel? tire changing machine from the 50's. I am so excited to get started. Meanwhile I would love to build a small version of a lathe and milling machine to use in the basement so I can make parts in the warmth when it is too cold out. I will let you know when I start my channel. Thanks.
@@Project2Workshop I love your shop also. We should collab sometime or just get together and hit some targets. I really fell in love with the PCP air pew pews...
@@Biokemist-o3k sound like your making the best of a tough time and putting it to good use! I’ve been in aviation for lots of years so that sound pretty cool to me👍. My other channel is project2aero where I’ve been building an airplane over the last few years. Always tinkering on somthing🤷🏻♂️
Where did you get that transfer tape? a lot of the transfer tape i bought messed up the stencils and they stick to the tape and wont come off and stick to the rifle
I just use the “low tack” masking tape made for delicate surfaces that you can get at normal hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s. It’s never real easy surfaces that are not flat but it helps a lot!
Some of these are really hard to get inside well. Likewise it’s difficult to remove with the sand blaster as well. I generally focus on what I can reach easily and roll with it.
I'm happy you still posted this and kept it real bout your errors. I likely would have rushed and made the same mistakes. Now I know, and Knowing is Half the Battle!
I usually don’t use aerosol paint on guns. Cerakote is the toughest coating you can get👍. There is lots of guns out there with spray paint on them, but you just can’t expect it to be a show gun, it’s a tool👍
If you had a fde one and assuming you do not have a paint sprayer your not going to ceracoat your just going to use spray paint going rattle can and you want to go matte black or the same black yours was what brand of spray would you get? I hear it's like 150 to paint from Kel tech but I'm sure after sh and tax were over 209 plus the wait time..for something I might be able to just do with a can. I've used Aervoe on hand guards baked it after 3 light coats 300 degrees and came out amazing. I chose the Rust-Oleum 2X for the Kel TEC which is the primer + 2 paint. Its way too thick and no matter how far away I sprary it clumps in the spots that are not flat. I know that's why people ceracoat vthst abd jt lady longer, but both will come off and if done right with spray cans its can stay on pretty well. The truck has always been do thin layers and scuff in between, paint comes off the ways it's out on. So if you blend the layers by scuffing it in-between it's so much more likely to stay on. So I have a splotchy 1 st layer of black primer+ paint because I scotch bright most off it off. Was way too thick for a first layer. I need a decent second layer can if I could just find black in that camo can style that's pretty cheap but they dont make black. I almost bought krykon Maxx has primer in it too and it's over 20 on A again 19 at Walmart. And the engine 3000 temp ones are too matte almost a grey color/brand when you spray it but it comes out must smoother and flat on the surface. That's the way I want it just the wrong color. That's like a charcoal grey even thought it was the black not even the matte black high temp. Also I do think baking works well with metals but on plastic I do have some areas of concern and with aluminum u are really expanding the molecules letting the paint in. So def going to not apply heat. Besides only certain brands let's you heat. Def no primer ones. I shouldn't have gotten it in FDE. Where not even in the desert. So the allure is totally gone.
Very impressing. I had to warn you, GET RID OF THAT FORWARD GRIP. The way it's constructed with a plastic tip holding it in place WILL sheer off, did it to mine first time out. You need the grip that has 2 mounting screws going through the rail for strength. Hope this helps out.
High tech custom concepts has the best kek TEC stuff. All sorts of handles even fit the ks7. I thought you were gonna say because the ATF are a bunch of bossey felony makers out of good folks. Agree simple Magpul rail grab one used two really thick screws and overly big washers.
It won’t let me put links, but just search high temp kryptek stencil on eBay and you’ll find plenty of options. That’s where I normally get them. Thanks for watching!
