Sky Crossing isnt in Dayton. its in Beavercreek, Green County. If your ever wondering if it is in Dayton just look at the Mail or postal code. Beavercreek is a great place, theres the Green and they have alot of parks and the airforce museum and nice people.
This is what they've done to my neighborhood, and it's sad. 20 years ago there was a large farmhouse at the end of the street with lots of land, and an actual farm. My Nana and I used to walk there when I was a kid to see the two cows that I absolutely loved, but now it's a Ryan Homes (extremely low quality miniature mcmansions marketed as high end) subdevelopment.
Family friendly off the top of my head would be Washington Township, Sugarcreek Township, Patterson Park, and Vandalia North. Places like Belmont and South Park are affordable because of their high property crime so definitely not good places to live, but are safe to visit during the day.
West Milton is about 20 miles northwest of Dayton. Affordable cheaper t han the south suburbs by far. New schools only 4600 people almost zero crime much cheaper than neighboring tipp city
I was born and raised in Dayton even worked at General Motors. Sorry but I would go homeless before I would move back there. Im retired in SouthEast Asia on the ocean at a fraction of the cost of Dayton.

For a city that has birthed some of the greatest and pioneering funk bands of all-time, the "limited diversity" is surprising. If Dayton has gentrified since the days of those groups, that is also surprising given, what is indicated, is the "struggling downtown," limited lifestyle and car-centric nature of the city; although I do see the affordability plus location to three major cities.
Ohio can be a wonderful area to live however Dayton is NOT a safe area to raise children. However downtown Dayton needs a huge renovation. All the historic homes and single family homes need rehab.
From the stats that you mentioned about Dayton, and it’s highly rated colleges, it seems to be on the upswing as a city. I saw a commercial property ( former Church), ⛪️ at 14 Potomac. I’m toying with the idea of an upscale gym/ coffeehouse/ neighborhood meeting place concept. Do you know if there’s an adjacent parsonage? And is there any off street parking?
Born in Dayton. Grew up in Miami County. I lived in Columbus for ten years, New York City for four. I came back to Troy in my 30s. Own a house up here now. There's a reason I came back. I own my house outright and lived on $17,000 last year. Great parks, bike path, the river, outdoor activities. I rarely leave town, honestly.

Lived in Fairborn for a number of years, not the best place to live, but close to shopping. Moved to Kettering afterwards and lived there over 12 years and a lot to do there before moving on.
I have lived in the Dayton, Ohio area for over 35 years and live closer to Yellow Springs/Clifton areas Ohio now.....about 45 minutes or less from Dayton. In my 35+ years living in the Dayton area....including Dayton, Ohio itself....I am glad to have finally moved further away from Dayton. I go to Dayton a lot for my doctor's appts and have family that lives in north Dayton which I visit quite a bit. I dealt with all kinds of crap while living in Dayton, but the area was higher crime area. I never got my vehicle stolen, but did have my house broken into twice. May need to carry a firearm like a pistol for defense in some areas of Dayton at night. Shopping is decent in the Dayton area and there are all kinds of outdoor things to do. They have a great bike trail network from Montgomery County into Greene County, excellent thing there. I love the Air Force Museum in East Dayton and visit it once a year usually. Great local places to eat and we got Smales soft pretzels in East Dayton.....yummy! Weather is typical mid-western weather, hot humid summers, nice springs, cold dry winters with very little snow and decent falls usually. I have family dotted all over the Dayton area and will stay in the western Ohio area til I pass on. Overall cost of living here in the Dayton/western Ohio areas is not too bad. Sure beats Cincinnati area for sure. Good video.
