Do bass bows have a wedge? I dropped my bow and the hair basically popped out from the tip and I never found the wedge so I’m wondering where I can find a replacement or if bass bows use a whole different system at the tip please I will take any help I can get
She made that seem sooo easy. I can tell you, that although I've played violin for many decades and have a degree in classical guitar from Sydney Conservatorium, I can't do any but the most basic adjustments to my violin. The work shown in the video takes years to become adept at and even putting in a soundpost is, for most players, something not to be attempted let alone perfected. The soundpost must be in just the right spot and a millimetre here or there will have the instrument playing poorly or at its best. This work is demanding of a very stable, relaxed and decidedly unflustered temperament. These people are true craftspeople just as a violin, or any instrument, maker must be.
Sad that someone ruined the informative speech, with annoying muzak. Not very professional, when an instruction sounds like a cheap commercial or a russian porn. 🤪
You said 'this is the only tool you'll ever need.' What tool? You didn't show a close-up and I would like to see it, please. Is it a flat screwdriver, or something else? Thank you.
Thank you! Just ordered a new violin and bow online and it came with rosin. We thought maybe it was dried out or bad. You’re video explained my exact issue! This was very helpful
I realize this video is older but thanks for making it! I just bought a used violin at auction and the bow hair is in pretty rough shape. Hopefully it can be replaced as easily as this. :-)
Indeed. The hard part is getting the hair to get in straight order while tying the end and not losing any tension. I’m sure there’s a tool that helps with this but so far I like to do it as awkward as possible while holding the hair in one hand, and trying to tie a knot with one hand and my teeth lol
The individual hairs of the replacement chunk turned out to be of different lengths. So it looked really weird until I found video showing how to equalize the hairs by heating on a candle. That info should be included in P&H package.
Thanks I won $60 violin on ebay very old my first violin a rescue mission so cool. Your video was most informative just what I was looking for thanks again.
The pitch on this recording is about a half step too high. The A sounds like an A#. This cello would be even more resonant if either the recording was better or the cello were tuned correctly. The cellist is good so this really confuses me!
