hey! enjoyed your vlog! not sure if you will see this haha but i’m planning a solo trip and feeling kinda nervous about it. could i ask which part of montreal you stayed in and how did you get around? is it generally safe to stay out when it is dark? thanks in advance!
heLLO IM SO SORRY THIS IS SO LATE. if you already went on your solo trip, i hope it went smoothly and you had an amazing time! if not, then i stayed in the "quartier des spectacles" and back when i went it was defs safe to stay out when it was dark. if i ever feel uncomfy being a solo female out on ze streets, i usually pull out my phone and act like im talking on the phone with someone else, but generally i felt safe! i absolutely love travelling solo for so many reasons, if not, just for being selfish and doing all the things /i/ want to do without having to compromise with my travelling buddy haha but i hope this eases a few of your nerves and hope u have/had a lovely time by yourself hehe

only 8 months late on this comment...HAHAH but im from BC too (!) so going to montreal felt like a great location within canada to do a lil trip, but eep congrats on retiring! hope quebec works out for you if you decide to follow through :)
@@march.moments hehe no worries. I’m still planning on going there. I’m just brushing up on my French and trying to get in fitter shape (years of sitting at a desk have taken a toll) so I can enjoy it better. I’m still trying to decide when is the best time to go. Montreal seems like a summer city (with festivals and whatnot) but Quebec City looks so charming in winter or spring.

if you speak to them first in english then they easily transition over to speaking english ! i was able to converse in french a lil bit from my french immersion training but they were always happy to speak in english if i transitioned to that language!
How long did you stay there? Also what was your budget including airfare? I really want to plan a solo trip of my own to Montreal. Also did u stay in an Airbnb or hotel?
i stayed there for about 4 days and i spent under 1k for my whole trip, including airfare (~$300), airbnb (about $100/night) and activities (art gallery, comedy show, food, shopping)!
As someone who was born and raised in mtl. it was great to see a travel episode that showed a trip home that wasn't trumpeting the food and old Montreal, the mountain,and the plateau the whole time. Thank you for your take on it. I go back for a visit in September and will check out a couple places you suggested.

Very wholesome. Long time native who lives regularly in all these parts, and this is a fun way to experience life as a local would. We'd nitpick a couple places based on our own preferences, but nothing here was something we'd sneer upon. Good to see someone appreciating a lot of things we take for granted.

ahhh i hope im not too late, i think the shop is called Planète Otaku!! it was super large and had so much content, i was so overwhelmed (in a good way!!) have a lovely trip :)
Very nice ! if you happen to go again , take a look at the RESO it the world largest underground " City " its about 33km without stepping outside ! but if it Rain , Montreal have Countless Gems

@@highlyfavoredSharon eep fun! i hope you do end up going, it is such a lovely city! mm for accommodation, i stayed near saint denis and sherbrooke area and i just found a one-bedroom airbnb. as for transportation, i went during covid times so i was still wary about public transit and instead managed to walk everywhere! the city is quite walkable and the weather was gorgeous so i didn't run into any problems with that :)

Hey, don't know if I'm too late on this but if you come to Montreal and don't want to use transit too much, you can always get a bixi pass. Its 18$ for a month of unlimited rides on the bikes. Super convenient.

ooh honestly i was just walking around and checked out any shops that interested me, rather than specifically looking for certain shops. But a lot of good shops are along st. laurent blvd from rue saint-antoine to like rue bernard (which would take you from chinatown to mile end). as for the art gallery it is the montreal museum of fine arts!

aw thanks so much! i believe i got it from an eyeglasses store in my city, but the brand is longchamp (omg i just searched up 'longchamp glasses' and it's literally the first one google gives you lol)
