I collect Japanese video games, from the old to the new. My videos tend to be about hunting for Japanese retro games, as well as advice for when people go shopping for these precious games.
I would like to know why Surugaya's search results always show low pricing but when you click on a specific item in the search result, the price suddenly goes up? Sometimes, by a lot. It's annoying.
Kind of a useless video since there is only speculation and no real testing done. Also, most of North America doesn't actually have 120v anyway, it's usually 110v or 115v.
0:48, that isn't the original TMNT, that is the second game (The Arcade Game), the first one in Japan didn't have the name TMNT anywhere on the cart, or in the game. Cosmic Wars is a strategy RPG, has some connections to Gradius. The Vic Viper from Gradius is even on the front of the cart.
"Acting like women are objects and not people". Even though this game has some of the deepest lore i've ever seen for NPC characters in my life... but ok. You either can't read a lick of japanese and are just guessing what the text or theme of the game is or your parents r sibblings
They are ALL underage it's not just the "chinese girl", everyone in this game is in high school. I'm very convinced this is just a troll video cuz it really seems like ur so trapped in a basement never seeing the light of day you actually think meeting girls in a video game is. "stalking simulator". 😂... The game does NOT base around "looting at locations or following them around". The girls in this game don't find you "creepy" because the game is not creepy. But you (as a person) really seem like you are. Only a weiirdo would come up with all these absolutely inane statements about an innocent dating simulator about meeting women and going on dates with them...
lol at dudes like this who act so offended over how women are represented in video games that they actively cry and whine about it all the while there are tons of girls who played this game who never had any problem with it. Supreme whiteknight savior complex behavior. If anything is "creepy" it's definitely the way you talk in this 3 minute cringe video.
I stopped buying from Suruga-ya since they increased the sales commission from 500 to 800 yen last week. That was the last straw for me. Recently they also set a minimum item price. You won't find anything in their store for under 600 yen now even if the item is more than 35% cheaper on the JP site. But the biggest issue I have with Suruga-ya is that they removed EMS shipping and force you to use DHL which is a big headache for anyone living north of the border.
First one you showed is not a VA-0, that isn't the very first model. That will be the third one, at least a VA-1 or later. Very first release has four LEDs on the front, two green for power on, two red for access. First two had the power supply screwed to the top half, that one doesn't. The other V-Saturn is a model 1, different in that way, identical to the Sega version apart from the plastic colour and the BIOS. The RAM carts have no battery backed save, and if it isn't working you need to clean it appropriately and clean the slot as well. EDIT: The Hi-Saturn is essentially identical the the V-Saturn and Sega Saturn, the different version you speak of is called the Navi-Saturn. You didn't do a lot of research here did you... 😆
To answer the question in a moment rather than 10+minutes: clip the two plastic tabs inside your SNES cartridge port and Japanese games will fit right in. Electronically they are identical to US cartridges, the only thing stopping them from working is this physical barrier. To play PAL (Europe, Australia) games, you'll need a hardware modification because these are programmed to work at a different framerate, resolution, and colour format that the US and Japan consoles are not electrically designed for. I'm not wasting my time watching this video, and you shouldn't either. To the author: this video might have been worth it 10-15 years ago, but now this information is common on the internet. Come up with something better. I'm sick of seeing the same info repeated over and over again on RU-vid as if it's new or novel, I need something new.
Currently playing for the first time FF7, FF9 and FF10. You can clearly feel the peak of Jrpg in these games, they are true works of art. Story, Graphics, World, Music and gameplay are 10/10 with slight variations on each. WORKS OF ART!
I think there are some decent points here but also some broad generalization going on here too. Sure a game going up $10-20 more bucks is no big deal but it's when someone or a group of people buy up these goods to resell and then you're seeing cheap titles go up $40-100 or even more than that you'll begin to see a major problem. And for some games it is getting to that point. I can only imagine what prices will jump to in the reseller markets outside of Japan because of this. It will only get worse but I doubt it will be as bad as the current game market in the US necessarily.
Big note to everyone! Even if your console breaks, please don’t throw them away! You’d be amazed what can be fixed. Pay someone who’s experienced or at least send them to me instead of tossing them. 😁 I’ve fixed all kinds of issues.
Net Versus Shogi for Dreamcast is a Shogi game, which has a very futuristic introduction. Since there are many Shogi games in Japan, I suppose the devs want to add a twist or two to the game to make it more distinguishable. By the way, Shogi is an excellent game, give it a try.
Hello their so i ordered from surugaya this week, but im a bit worried that 2 of my items are not in the order because they're not saying out of stock. I wonder if this is normal for anybody?
I agree, a small investment for longevity. Thank you for the heads up! I've previously bought a voltage converter for some of my Euro stereo systems and I stand behind this tech.
My 15 year old son showed interest in the Famicom a few months ago. We bought one a few months ago. This video helped us to pick a Twin Famicom over a regular Famicom.
I started ordering difficult condition consoles to mod for US (SFC, N64, Gamecube, wii). I have bought a lot of those systems for usually half the price of their better condition counterpart. If I was paying for shipping it would make these consoles substantially more. Apart from that, their prices have sky-rocketed.
I think with just the way collectables have exploded in popularity the last 5 years, coupled with the mass influx of tourists to Japan since the borders fully opened post covid, as well as the yen being very weak, there are just SO many old games leaving Japan and going back home with people once their trip ends. If you have 3-4 foreigners coming in everyday and buying CIB copies of Final Fantasy 6, Super Mario Kart, and Chrono Trigger then of course you are going to raise the prices. People new to retro game collecting don't care, and frankly are just amazed a 30 year old game is boxed in good condition for 30 bucks.
She's gotta be German or Scandanivan or something, considering her palace has medieval European architecture, she's blonde haired with blue eyes and most notorious European kingdoms hail from German-ethnic groups like Saxons and most of the HRE. Noting that she is medieval-coded, it's not far-fetched to assume she's some sort of Germanic white, whether it be Anglo-Saxon or some Scandinavian considering the prevalence of blonde white people there.
I actually talkt to them on facebook and here is the info i got. They offer free shipping whenever they have time to pack all the orders. They keep costs down because they take all the orders and pack them and ship them all at the same time which is the day after the free shipping offer expires.
They also addmited that prices online is higher than in stores to cover shipping costs and to make a small profit. That us why the lowest price is always 500yen even though the same product maybe is only 100yen in stores.
I've noticed that too but i never order expensive games/things from suruga-ya or most stores because I'm not that kind of collector. I try to just import with proxies if I can find a good deal from someone overseas who just wants to get rid of things. I've noticed doing that and browsing multiple online stores, many times will the price of not even rare things will be much lower than suruga-ya 90% of the time. Suruga-ya is also slow to update these item's prices once something restocked or reprints too. So I still think it's probably the best deal in overseas importing of Japanese things, but i don't think everything should be bought there. But esp old to near new manga, magazine, junk to most JP, are the best deal and extremely cheap. I was honestly hoping suruga-ya was having overstock problems and that's why they did free shipping weekends, 😅. Now if only they'd allow us to order from their jp only stock somehow through their .com because I would love that.
