There is so much to go and do about expecting about a bus before traveling on bus all items you do but the ramp was strange you don't put it out like that it comes out with a button behind driver side have you had any trouble anytime hope not😢😮be safe
When I was a bus and coach driver, we had 15 minutes on clocking on to sing on with your ticket module and get your bus ready for the road, i,e top up with water at the same time the engine was running to build up air pressure, you were told of if you didn't leave the garage on time. So there is no way one could do all this in 15 minutes so I cant see this being done each day.
I don't know why they call it a first use check, EVERY driver should do a full walk around check everytime they get on a vehicle and that should only take 10 min...
Most defects get ignored by bus companies unless its either very easy to put right or downright illegal. You can have a dashboard like a christmas tree but if there are no red lights or brake warning lights you are deemed safe to go. Things like headlights and most exterior lights get replaced immediatly upon failure or if not later that day.
They do not care as long as they get bus on road. I worked for them for 13 yrs. HS is not important to them. Nor is cleaning. Lowestoft depot the buses are filthy and never been any different. It should not say first bus it should be called last bus.
"Sufficient time will be allocated and this will be negociated locally with the trade union" We get about 5 minutes to do all this and if we leave the car park where the buses are stored (this is a good 6 minute walk from the depot) they will pull you into the office and bollock you.
All this is done just to keep the lawyers quiet. If something goes wrong and there's an accident, the driver can be fired for "endangering passenger safety", and the company can hope that they only have to pay a slightly smaller compensation bill because they "had a comprehensive safety program that the driver shamelessly ignored".
What a load of rubish they never gave enough time all they were worried about was the run out in the mornings . we all know that . they will never change last bus
I checked a bus one morning and found the fire extinguisher installed back to front so I was unable to see the pressure guage on it to check it was still in the green. Radioed the depot got told "they have a shelf life of 5 years carry on"
I wonder if the driver reports a very minor defect from a first use check how many times will it actually get fixed straight away at the expense of that bus being late for service or will shift managers still send it out anyway
If it is deemed still roadworthy they send it out. You can report the same thing for weeks before its fixed. Had a Bus in a my fleet that was running rich and pouring soot everywhere drinking fuel like mad and they waited 3 weeks to sort it.
