I watched this for the first time while having an incredible day and an intense mushroom trip. That experience the the best and most life changing experience ive ever had. In the past year since that time i have rewatched it 8 times and it never gets old. Truely a masterpiece
It shouldnt even be a shonen its so much darker then everything else out there. Like people say Jjk is dark but it dosent show gutts or organs just blood.
I think part of the confusion is that redemption comes with this connotation of making amends after a long period of introspection, which is not what Rudeus does. The show is about change, and what it means to pursue a fulfilling life. Becoming a better person is a BYPRODUCT of Rudy wanting to make meaningful connections and lacking the minimum amounts of consideration for others to do that. He MUST grow to make friends and find love, but growth is not his personal goal in and of itself. People are coming in with the mindset he'll receive some kind of karmic justice he'll make some grand gestures to right his wrongdoings....when the dude is just trying to find friends and family and say he didn't waste his life away.
From what I understand, redemption means to change for the better. Redeem can mean to take what you don't like about yourself and alter it to fit the values you want to employ. There are periods in the story where he takes long periods of introspection. Take the time period from the end of season one part two through season 2 part one towards the beginning. We may not have seen it, but we can infer that in journeying through many different places and taking time only to grow his reputation and cry to himself, he thought about some of the conclusions he came to at the end of that first episode. There are other periods where he does this which includes the finale of the most recent season where he decides to marry Roxy. Season one is mainly about him living in this isekai world adjacently to his mindset from his past life. While he did have development during this time, it still ended up with Eris departing for the time being. In season two and especially during the magic college arc, we get to see Rudeus become a better person and thus through this, he is THEN able to live a fulfilling life because he's modeled and is going through his life the way that he imagined and reformed it to be as. Part two of season two is the payoff to all of the major development in season two part one. I get that we may have different takes on this topic, but I genuinely think that's what's so great about Mushoku Tensei. It's someone's life story that we get to see in ourselves, interpret, and tell it as we see it. It builds off of our philosophy on life because it is just a guy's book of experiences.
For me mukosho tensei is story of redues grearat , the quagmire he learns new things in his new life but at his core he is still the pervert person who is kind And yes this story is not about redemption he will not become a moral upstanding person like you said
I feel like people misunderstand what redemption means. Redeeming yourself doesn't mean to become a pure hearted, good willed person in every aspect of your being. Rudeus redeems himself by going from someone who didn't care for his connections to people, to someone who was able to connect with Paul and Zenith in his new life in youth to having his own family with the people he loves very much. He went from someone who didn't feel anything towards family to having so much compassion for them and friends and being able to better understand his family from his past life.

That's what you want to believe Not only does it not help the series, but its also not the main focus AND it damages the reputation. I have two observations. One observation is that the MC tried to escape from the rat race for Japanese males, but then he's forced back but this time, it is the rat race for Japanese females. This glorification of being female by males, ignores what life truly is for the majority of women, especially Japanese women. The extreme of this over glorification is seen in hentai gender bender where the male turned female is often more sexually attractive than the average female born and with a never ending capacity for multiple orgasms through rape by multiple males. The MC's sister even alludes to this by telling him that intensity of female orgasms, is too dangerous for males to experience, so as to scare him from masturbating with his newly female body. The other female characters are a mini Utopia where there isn't one mean or evil girl in the group making life a living hell for MC or his new female friends. Sorry, but there is so much suspension of disbelief that one can endure. Another observation, is that there appears to be a hidden agenda behind the scenes in that his sister works for a shady research company and has a female superiror to whom she reports to about the progress of her brother's feminization process. If anybody knows what this company's ultimate goal is, it would be interesting to read about it. The fact that they are using a human male and against his will, using him as a guinea pig is a fact that can't be suger coated with good intentions on the part of the MC's sister. Not good. And I'm probably not the only one who has caught on to this. This gender bender story suffers from what many other male to female stories have and that it plays into a well defined trope that you can tell where the story is going to end in. Contrast this with the manga story "Watashitachi wa Moto Joshi desu" which also deals with gender change but where the MC goes from female to male. And even though the change is brought by a virus/syndrome cliche, it is not a comedy and the emotional struggle that the girl turned boy goes through is moving, as she and those closest to her, family and friends, try to navigate the change (which has also befallen another girl, who happens to be the MC's male crush) is compelling. Too bad I haven't come up with anything similar in male to female stories. Anyway, for better or worse, that's my POV on this manga/anime story.
Mushoku Tensei is not a redemption story. This is the biggest misconception that has caused so much damage to the community because people think "Oh, so he should get better and redeem himself. Wait, why is he doing all this perverted stuff? EW GROSS!" and then they hate the series. They come into the series with the wrong expectations and expect Rudeus to stop being a pervert when the story was never about that. Rudy will always be a pervert. You wont like the series if you expect him to change that aspect. There's also a lot of tourists staying in denial, claiming things like "Roxy isn't a loli, she's a petite woman" when she actually is a loli. The author literally calls her a loli multiple times and called the entire Migurd tribe "lolis" (I have receipts). If you think she isn't a loli, you're going against what the author's intentions are in making this series. You just want to watch a weird series without feeling like a weirdo yourself.
In Rudeus' past, he was simply a miserable puddle of slop when it came to human emotion and morals. While his morals in terms of sexual activity haven't changed, his emotional intelligence has greatly improved, and this is the reason why instead of pushing everyone away constantly and acting with complete rudeness, he has been able to keep relationships and nurture them through his own methods. One of the beginning episodes was him overcoming his trauma of leaving his home and you can't say that isn't an example of emotional improvement when because of this, he was able to connect with Sylphie and others due to overcoming the fear and seeing good in the world again. Even in the newest season, he is able to learn from his past life of shutting himself off and how his brother tried to help him. He used this memory and with the new lessons he has learned and new viewpoint he's developed in the fantasy world, he is able to come up with his own method of appeasing Norn's depression because he has grown in the emotional department. When I say redemption, I don't mean he turns from a freak to a role model who follows new age culture of never violating or pushing taboos. He is able to change qualities about himself other than his perversion. P.S. Tourist might be one of the cringest terms ever. You're using that word because of your laziness to trying to see the positive points in other people's arguments.

"Redemption story" gigguk even thinks that every time rudeus makes a mistake he'll learn from it and change but when rudeus was rewarded for cheating on slyphie, he finds that a problem.
It really depends on whatever your definition of redemption is what you think he is redeeming. For me is a redemption of a dude who was a shut in and a parasite to his family becoming a family man I would and does anything to protect his family. also, the loli vs petite woman is just a semantic game. People use the world loli to refer to multiple things, unless the author specifies what he means by "loli" then you just can't say what he is talking about. Maybe he uses loli to refer to petite women, or petite women with a specific body type, maybe he uses the term broadly.

There should be nothing wrong with that, yet people get all weird and uncomfortable and will stay in denial (denying that she's a loli). It leads to misinformation.

Under Tides and Stultifera Navis honestly deserves to have their own side story animations too, not only because they're among my favorite stories of the game, but the overall story and emotion in it is just beautiful.
I think that the main issue people had with the motion sickness and "crappy" visuals is due to many people watching it in pirate sites with shitty resolutions and even lower bitrates, i watched the uncompressed blueray version and i didn't have of those problems. The story is so so, but the visuals are amazing, if you don't watch it in poopoo *insert random anime website here*.
Can u please make some type-moon content it’s the strongest franchise in anime with their base abilities giving them immeasurable speed. & my power scaling playlist has all the proof we need, my essay playlist also proves it has the best written characters in anime especially in the girl aspect.(which some shonen struggle with) Like generic anime channel’s shirou vid, it’s billion$ budget & ufotable come together to give us peak animation of any year they drop or period. Its also the lotr of anime with lore on lore & galore.
Definitely has a long way to go to reach the likes of Dandadan, Gachiakuta and Sakamoto Days for me but its still staying one of the goats atleast to me.
fujimoto did so many action scenes in part 1 because shonen jump told him so, if it weren't for that we could have had a completely different csm, fuji himself said it, that he doesn't like to draw action scenes and he considers himself bad in that aspect
There's a very specific reason fujimoto released just listen to the song before part 2 came out, it was basically him letting us know that part 2 would be different and to trust his process

I NEVER stated an opinion on the matter. I NEVER said it was or that it wasn't one. I think people have seen enough argument over whether Denji "wanted it" or if it was a crime. Rather, I wanted to talk about what it meant for the story as an event in what is ESSENTIALLY a downhill spiral with no end in sight. I talked about my interpretations of the chapters in question and how the expressions and language used by the characters emphasizes the uneasy, traumatic, and shocked state of minds in both Denji and Asa. Analyzing the visuals and the dialogue was what I did and if you took some time to review what I said about the experience as a whole, you MIGHT be able to guess what I think of the scenario overall, if you really want my opinion on if it was a sex crime or not.
