Everything so far is very professional and well done. The only thing I have a problem with, is that she's afraid of the food and water because, I'm assuming, it might have been poisoned or contaminated in some way and would therefore be harmful. But she has no problem with her sister lighting up a cigarette and smoking it around her.
Oh that's a good take on this short. I love it when commenters give their take on the characters and their story, we are often left to make our own minds up , create the full story ourselves, and there are so many clever theories in the comments. The imagination of the viewers is far more interesting to me. 😉
Both sisters had mental health challenges. We were able to glimpse the kinds and types of triggers through the sisters communication and trust issues. The mom, dad and john were intimated to ensure sure the family was in on the decision to abandon them at a secluded motel with John being seen scampering away, after making sure the vents, windows and airways were all covered in plastic, because this behavior is often one of the plans of the other sister. With the sisters being left alone in the motel, all of the vents, doors and windows covered, `the oxygen level will soon drop and the insects will take over and devour the bodies.
This was nothing short of masterful. The tension between the sisters, the constant undercurrent of threat, all delivered with superbly acted minimalism and restraint that is only loosened in a sudden outburst at the end. Nothing is clear, much is unspoken, the story balancing on a fine line between possible interpretations. In a sense it is pure, distilled atmosphere, miasma, the evil winds of horrors, filling mind and screen in dark, pregnant colors. This one will stay with me.
I know with these short stories, we're supposed to fill in some blanks. This was way too blanks to fill. It was shot, lit, and acted beautifully, but i was completely lost.
Confusing. The car is parked in front of the room when she returns from the store with a crack in the windscreen. But when she goes out to get items for painting, it is across in a field, facing the opposite direction and there is no more crack. Then the car is back in front of door. Who has mental issues? The blonde or the other "sister"? Do both exist? Shower curtain is open when she goes to take a shower, but she closed it when checking the bathroom earlier. Small inconsistencies in editing are noticeable by those paying close attention. I know that's not a big deal, but it's just not clear what is going on. Could have been more clear with some more information. Thanks.
I think the car that had the bag of stuff was the paranoid sister's car, which was parked over there. It's a different car than the one the blonde sister was driving
Doesn’t really explain everything else. I guess it’s about schizophrenia and how strongly it affects love ones. But, it wasn’t too clear. I mean, I don’t want my hand held when I’m watching something. But, I feel like this one was a little “too open” for interpretation. @@gzhzoe22
