Just getting started on this. Dain mentions there isn't a good tool like a wiki to help keep characters straight for a first read through. And he is correct that you should avoid the wiki's like the plague unless you just want to have tons of spoilers. However, there is an app called the Wheel of Time Compendium that lets you set the last book you have finished and you can look at a small summary for any given character that shouldn't spoil any future events. Can be pretty handy for a first time reader trying to keep names straight.
There is a scene in which the protagonist is forcefully hosed down by apes using a powerful stream of water. Upon learning that the director drew inspiration for this from his own experience of being subjected to a similar ordeal by the Japanese military during the war, I found myself grappling with complex emotions as a Japanese person. Nonetheless, I greatly admire this remarkable film. Nevertheless, I hold a deep appreciation for this remarkable film.
Your comment was suppressed requiring me to unsuppress it. I do not get notified and have to check every now and then. Not sure why it was, you didn't say anything wrong.
Thank you for just telling the story of the game. There are too many retrospectives out there that are just what the guy likes or dislikes about the game, and/or compares it to other games. This is a great video.
I was 9 when I watch it firs time and I was amazed. It's deep. It has a strong message. And the effects are still convincing today. I loved the beast.. and after 60 years I find it on YT! what a gift. Last one... no diversity.. good idea. In Star Trek you see the first interracial kiss on TV and you can't imagine what happened thereafter, seriously.
"Underrated" is overrated haha. Sure, I just feel it doesn't get enough recognition in the grand scheme of things today. Older people scifi fans adore it but younger fans and most normies like parents never heard of it so I didn't discover it until recent YEARS after I watched Star Trek and was like, "how did I not know of this?"
I remember spending AGES fighting that boss that would bounce you around and knock you down a floor trying to get the final pendant. When I finally beat it, I jumped down off the ledge in celebration.... *BEFORE GRABBING THE PENDANT AS IT DROPPED!* Had to immediately go back upstairs and fight the damn thing again since grabbing the pendant is what stops the respawn.
@Nerdporeal ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8JU0C_l4aac.htmlsi=dwtMplloposa2cmQ It doesn't say he revived, it says "your uncle recovers" during the credits, meaning he didn't die.
Had it been filmed 1985.12.1 ~ spring 1986, released autumn 1986, its quality could've been proved 1987 times as more exorbitant as I always hoped superiorly futuristic!
I look at Alien 3 as Ripleys Nightmare during cryosleep. She constantly had nightmares for 57 years and when she came into the second film still continued with. Nightmares. But even if you don’t wish to even look at it like that, I still feel that Alien 3 deserves more praise than negative bits about the story not continuing with a happy ending. Ripley n Alien was a survivor and discovery of the Alien itself, the second was about revenge but also a second chance at being a mother and being there for the little girl. The third installment deals with death in Ripley accepting her fate, her nightmares and all the shit the dealt with because of the company but in that final scene she gives the biggest fuck you to the company but not allowing them to have what’s inside her. She wins, she sacrifices herself and in that moment of falling to her death she is no longer afraid and welcomes death and even holds on to alien queen she births. It’s the only alien film where instead of sucking the Alien out of the airlock, they drench it in hot lead and then blow it up. The setting without weapons makes it more scarier, the prisoners all having to be the bait and luring the Alien into a trap. It’s brilliant. It bothers me that people do not like Alien 3. Ripley is a badass in this film and it sucks that as dark and grim was the start of the story, they also had the Alien being different in the fact that it latched onto a dog instead of a human making it even more interesting. James Cameron’s Aliens is the better of course. But Alien 3 is bad ass. Not a bad ass Aliens but but it was bold to go back to the original feel of being isolated and having to deal with one Alien that they have to work together to lure in and kill.
I can vouch for the phenomenon of Shogun in the 80s. It's was a buzz among the Moms for years. Roots was also huge, but I more vividly remember V, which I still enjoy. AC isn't the only one who loves the old version over the new one.
criminally underrated film! my fav of this kind. prob one of the best ever. such an oddity from the opening line to the musical acts at club dread! killer soundtrack great bad ADR all the 80's B tropes are here love love love this movie
Honestly Im not sure exactly why but this game has really won me over the past year. There's just something about it, I still think it's a little basic but at the end of the day it's forgiveable since its an old ass game, first of its kind Mario-wise, there's still a lot of zany stuff happening and the world is surprisingly varied. Meaning to get the remake soon.
It is, simply put, *the* most epic show I have ever had the pleasure to watch, but I would be badly remiss to not add a big ole "but" as a caveat. Getting attached to characters in this show is not a good idea, because so few of them actually survive to the end.
Finished that game yesterday, I was stunned at how certain dungeons and bosses fights were structured and all those different items that let you do a lot of different things with special gimmicks It's insane for a 1991 game, 33 year old game, I had a lot of fun playing it
A NEAR-perfect sequel. Cameron had me right up to the end, when Ripley depressurizes the cabin of the loader area, everything gets sucked out into space, yet Ripley is somehow able to breathe and hold the alien queen by her tennis shoe and seemingly indestructible elbow joint. I would've had her decapitate the queen with the loader or by some other method, then scramble to board the smaller ship with Newt and Bishop before the queen's acid blood eats through the hull and they're all sucked out into space.
Ripley is such an amazing character 👏 I also love Micheal Biehns corporal Hicks. The second best character in the series after Ripley. I really wish he had got his chance to be the series lead with Bishop in the original alien 3.
I fell asleep on the season finale. How is a show about a war with a bunch of dragons in it sooooooo boring? They show ALL scenes with people just standing around talking, but have half of the battles and dragon action occur off screen?!?!
