So you still use it in 2024? If not why did you replace it with? Even having a full blown RED scarlet X kit which sits on a shelf in my studio, I’ve been shooting with the C100 mk2 for all our channels videos for years, and I LOVE the image, but wanting a B cam to go hand held when needed and debating between the C300 mk2 or C200, but I absolutely love small file sizes of the c100, editing is a breeze!
It’s not my primary camera anymore since I had clients asking for 4K so I ended up going to a Sony F5 (with the 4K upgrade) however I still use my c300 on a ton of things if 4K isn’t needed

There’s just so much I love about the image coming from the Canon c100 mk2 that I hate to be greedy, but much like yourself with todays standards in 2024 even my independent work I feel should all be just a little better than the image I’m getting, and tbh the Red scarlet just isn’t my cup of tea so it’s really been a cool display piece in my studio that I almost never use. I need simplicity and ease of use for my work, and the tiny file sizes of the c100 mk2 is just so amazing to work with
2024 calling, and i just paid 500 for the c300 full kit. Amazing camera and worth mentioning the EF mount advantage... Huge availability of top quality EF mount L-IS lenses and now so cheap. R mount has knocked down the prices of EF. 😊
Wait??? Did I miss something? Film cameras have removable lenses. I prefer cinema lenses over photography lenses because Zoom lenses stay the same length, t-stop is easier to understand than f-stop, and the lens diameter will remain the same size for ease with a matte box. Or do you dslr versus a cheap broadcast camcorder?

I grew up using some canon point a shoot camera and had a Panasonic mini DV camcorder for a while. I got my DSLR for video but now I use it mostly for photography since I have a Canon C300 and Sony F5 now
I was able to get one yesterday. For $250. The whole camera works. It pretty much shoots the same resolutions at my GH6 does, GH6 is the most current one Panasonic has on the GH line, GH6 has more features though. Was looking for a cheap B Roll cam, and I hit the lottery here and got it so cheap. This thing was $1800 when it came out. How bad that deprecated over time. Ouch.
Good info. I suspect they aren't good used camera buys since you mentioned how very, very,very sensitive the monitor cables are to even slight movements which can cause EXPENSIVE repairs. Good to look into Bkackmagic again I suppose
no. we have one for a quick run and gun option. you can grab hd sdi out, but its 4:2:2 8bit 1080. You can bypass the long gop compression that way and maybe buy a little bit of color correction space.
Picked one up from Facebook market place with a lens for 250. The 4k 24p looks great from this camera especially for the nature stuff I like shooting. The vivid color profile looks great for nature.

Loved the short film. Very emotional actually! Don't mean to steal your secrets of course but how did you achieve this look? Did you use lutes ? Was it all with the rokinon 35mm? Also the aspect ratio did you change it in post or did you add black bars? Great work and the rokinon seems very good aswell i was a bit put off from buying them looking at other RU-vid videos because to me they looked too sharp as to good for movie/film feeling but in your they look really good and i feel emotions. Also did you use a speedbooster?
Good review ! I was thinking of buying this lense to use with my Sony FS7 but is a rokinon 35mm ef mount will it work if i use a ef to Sony e adapter? Also do you think this lense alone is good to achieve a film/movie look for a feature film or do you think it needs a speed booster? Im on really tight budget so i can only buy one lense so im thinking of using the 35mm only but obviously i will have to move around a lot.. any help appreciated and im going to watch your film!
Thanks man! Yeah the lens will absolutely work on the FS7 with an EF-E adapter. It’s a very fast lens, t1.2, so it should not really need a speed booster. I love this lens and the looks it gives. It does pull slightly more to the greens, but not that bad at all, just something I noticed.
I went with another Canon 1DC. Call me crazy- but weather sealing, tank ruggedness, 4K and bigger sensor won me over. And no cables. The downside is actually stupid- no freaking focus peaking, zebras nor wave monitor… That’s a real crime…
