I am a 21-year old Loughborough University student studying BSc Finance and Management. My course is 4-years and includes an industrial placement year. I am in my third year of university and am undertaking my industrial placement in Private Equity in London. I am documenting not only my journey throughout my placement year and university but also tips and tricks on living in London, best places to eat out and career related advice.
First time watching one of your vids mate, and found it really informative, but please don't feel the need to use rapid cuts. It's actually distracting. Trust your audience to be able to deal with a pause or a breath. I understand cuts between takes and when you've finished a section, but cuts between every sentence or even within sentences isn't necessary. Hope that helps. But like I say, really succinct and informative. Consider me a subscriber.
Thanks for that video! My dream is to work in hedge fund macro in London. I recently graduated from high school and am currently focusing on developing an investment strategy based on macro. Unfortunately, I am a bit worried because I will not be studying at a prestigious college, but to be honest, the stock market does not care about your education, gender, etc."
I used to work near there, trip down memory lane. Bank Station is a rats maze though. It's true, it's not somewhere to live, If anyone wanted to live close by I'd suggest Barbican/Farringdon
In my opinion the best route would be to go into audit as you can gain your accounting qualifications which makes you more employable to an investment bank :)
Yes they will all be heavily taxed however salaries are always given pre-tax. Certainly worth noting the 45% income tax. Additionally, their carry will be taxed at a lower rate
@@jacobphillips1 thanks, what do you think I am international student here in London, is it good place to kick start career as FA in IB? Or better go to the USA or other European countries?
Explained the roles really well! I'm looking for some internship experience in the field, looking forward to your advice. Would be great to connect with you! Thanks for the video!
Hi, I would definitely recommend checking out the different modules on the finances courses at Loughborough as this really gives a good insight to what you will be studying
if you are making 35k in private equity then you are being scammed. At least 50k base in a mid market where you work considerably less hours than in IB. 35k is around what big 4 pay to their analyst, so totally other lower league
Carillon were hugely dishonest. They stole from supplier staff and ultimately thier shareholders. The point that is no wisely reported is the role of govt procurement. How could you award a contract to an organisation that varied its price so hugely
I study Finance at Loughborough University but I do not attribute my degree as a factor in getting the placement role. Rather my enthusiasm and extra curricular activities helped me
Hey man, new subscribers here! Loving this video! Some inputs: When you told us what you're doing in 2:08, I prefer to see your face explaining that, rather than you switch the camera and shows the surroundings. So that visually speaking, I got connection about what you say and what you serve visually Cheers!
Hi, great informative video. Now is there any minimum invested amount required by LPs to contribute in the fund. Say 1 million minimum required to enter the fund as an investor??
Hi there, the main duties depends on the position in the company but for myself I was searching for companies to invest in daily. I was also finding bolt on for potential companies. I would certainly recommend knowing the industry well before starting work there as it will really help to get familiar with the lingo use
Hi mate, no I did not pay council tax. Because during placement year you are still technically classed as a student. All I had to do was get a letter from my university and send it to the council. I hope that helps :)
Thanks a lot Jacob! Also, I’m possibly about to move to canary wharf for my placement and I’ve heard people say it can be quite dull to live in. What are your thoughts as someone who lived there(if I remember correctly) :)
@@bruh8381 so I lived directly opposite Canary Wharf in Canada Water and often went over to Canary Wharf because there was lots to do during weekdays. For example plenty of restaurants and bars open however the weekends are a bit quiet and also it’s quite expensive to live in Canary Wharf on a placement year salary (but transport links v v good). If you’re looking for somewhere busy on weekends Clapham is the place to be
Wow you are at Loughborough as well, same here, I am a computer science student also on placement year atm, working in the tech division at a bank in the city, corporate life is long lolll
