Man I love this commentary. It’s going to be a fun year racing. Learning it week by week. I didn’t have the legs after the 4/5. I should have just done this 4 race, but instead of dictating decisions - I spent the race surfing wheels and doing tempo out in the wind. I feel like all of your race thoughts were spot on. I wish I would have seen the break go the same way you did, I would have been willing to help you work to get back on (Also, if you would have yelled at me for a tow on the last lap, I definitely would have given you one 😂). Either way, looking forward to more of these. Great racing with you, keep them coming.
Thanks for your candor and openness about what you did right and wrong. Yeah, our AXUN guys had 5 racers, but we had not raced together yet until Carondelicious on Saturday. Still learning each other. Before the Mike Murray Classic, we did not believe a break would stick because of the flat course and wind. Since the break went early (after the 1st prime), we again had that assumption. However, once the gap stuck and kept getting larger, our strongest rider (pink shoe covers) decided to bridge, which he was able to do. Once we knew he was in the break, we had no motivation to chase or pull the peloton with us. When on the front, we either slow pedaled, did false attacks, or literally pulled off. Our guy in the break got 4th at Mike Murray, and 3rd at Carondelicious. He did not do TT so no omnium position for him.☹ During the last 2 laps of Mike Murray, we tried to work in a train for our 2nd fastest guy and I was the sweeper on his wheel. He ended up 2nd in the field sprint. Overall, we had fun but definitely need to be more organized to control the race with that many riders (and we need to be more fit 😃). Hope to see you again this season! Keep the great videos coming.
Hey man thanks for the feedback. It's great to watch you guys come together decently cohesively in your first race together. Looking forward to racing with yall this year.
You accomplished a lot this year and got a hell of a lot of racing under your belt. You will learn from that even if it doesn't feel like it. More than enough life changes to give yourself a lot of grace about. It was good to hear the story of your season. Everyone I'm talking to is motivated for 2024. So when the weather turns good we'll get together and work on those base miles.
For some reason he didn't mentioned that Indievelo is the only one that offers a "virtual shifting" just touching the keys + or - on keyboard. The big vantage in that is you can use any Carrefour (or Walmart) bike on the Smart trainer, you don't need to have fiscal gears, so, you can keep your road training bike out of your smart trainer, AND, there's no consume in cassete and etc... Only Indievelo has that!
I wasn't aware of that. Is that the resistance/slope/trainer difficulty feature? Didn't even think to use it like that, I've been using it purely like zwift. Great tip
Tried it out and impressed. I immediately noticed "look and feel" UI issues that Zwift could sue and get an injunction on. But then reading other commentary elsewhere made me think this is actually being funded by Zwift itself as an R&D platform to drive more esports aspects into the market, without the potential instability or non-refined issues affecting the Zwift production product.
From what I've been able to tell it started as separate from zwift, but I'll check with my sources, and then recently Zwift and IV now have some sort of relationship. I'm not sure of the exact specifics but maybe I'll be able to get my source to either disclose some of this information or come on here and post.
Well done. I'm looking forward to giving this a shot. Sorry if I missed this, but does it upload to Strava and can you build custom workouts? Please do more videos on this platform. I think it has potential. I'm not much of a racer and really don't care how many people are on at the same time. I don't really take part in the social aspect of Zwift. Also, for me, Zwift is a little to game looking.
Good vid and review, as usual. Yep, my strategy was to stay on your wheel no matter how early and how often you attack. That wasn't easy BTW! Hit my new max HR for the year at 183 bpm trying to hang with you.
@@betweenthetape2775 yeah the second gholson hopped on I thought I had secured my podium by lapping him but you guys relaped me within like the last lap and a half it was barely any time at all
or *BOTH*.... This is the precise move that garnered a Cat B upgrade for this already uncompetitive Cat C racer (me). It did get me the final FAL of that particular ZRL event plus a bonus: I couldn't latch onto the pack as they blasted by and so finished last of the chasing group (outsprinted!! HAH!). Assuming the previous 5.25 laps were sitting at 1.9-3.19 not counting efforts on the grades. No danger of a Cat B upgrade for you! Congrats youngster!
The easy way is to use the companion app, with turning off erg being as easy as hitting a single button. If not you will need to bring up the bar at the bottom (PC, up arrow) (iOs, tap or swipe up). There will be an option for ERG mode there. -Justin
Brilliant finish mate, I got caught napping when the Go Go Go came. was in the process of complaining to Dave about the time taken to release. Lesson learnt. Not that I would have been in the front group. Good Team effort again.
