Vacations don't have to break the bank. And travel doesn't have to be filled with discomfort and uncertainty. Our world is meant to be explored and although no trip is without issue... ideally the issues are minimal and make for great conversation later. To that end my goal for my channel is present useful and informative information about a wide range of travel related topics.
Hello I watched your video but I have a question... I am going on a 7 day cruise with carnival to Turk, Amber , Nassau and celebration key. Wondering how many wine 750ml bottles can I bring in my carry on? I know you said 1 bottle but then you said 2 in which they will give us one on the second. but since Im going on a 7 days does that mean 6 bottles? lol Not being cheap but not everyone drinks in my room.
im a heavy smoker and i am always happy to smoke in the designated areas, i actually appreciate that we are given places to smoke onboard as i know the smell can affect others. of course id love to be able to smoke on my balcony,. but after that big fire that broke out onboard a ship, which i think was the reason the cruise lines banned it, im ok to not do it, just for safety reasons. i live in Tasmania Australia, so we cannot smoke in the casino, which shatters me, but i do understand why. but saying that on our virgin voyages cruise last December on resilient lady, they let us smoke in there smoking room that was attached to the casino. it was fantastic :)
@1:25....it's easy to figure out why the policy has changed to SEALED CANS and not glass or plastic bottles.....it's because persons have tampered with water/soda bottles and put alcohol in them to sneak them past security. 🤣 So cans are easier for security purposes.
I’m like two cruises from Elite. If another line offered me an incentive at this point I’d take it. I sure hope Princess improves. It’s going the wrong way.
What if there are two names in the birth certificate but you’re the custodial parent can I still take my child without a passport. I’m a single mom asking
Hello @tineia! Great question! Always better to be safe than sorry. According to Carnival Policy it is strongly recommended that you obtain a signed letter from the absent parent if they have legal custody. It's not required but the site does caution that it will speed up/smooth any possible hiccup's that you could run into with Homeland Security. Completely up to your discretion which way you want to go. If the child's legal father is still active and you have an amicable relationship I would go ahead and request the signed letter. The below is the exact wording from the policy site. "Traveling with Minors When traveling with a minor where one parent or both parents or legal guardians are not cruising, we strongly recommend bringing an original signed letter from the absent parent(s) or legal guardians authorizing the minor to travel with you. If there is no second parent with legal claims to the minor (due to sole custody, deceased, etc.) other relevant paperwork, such as a court decision, death certificate, birth certificate naming only one parent, would be useful to bring in place of a signed letter. This will expedite processing by the Department of Homeland Security." help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2544/~/minor-guest-policy Hope this helps! Happy Sailing!
@@journeyonabudget-lucrajour2781hi! quick question, if the absent father is absent and MIA, would i still need a signed letter from him? or can i just get the mother to make a signed letter?
@@joce1849 Morning! Great questions. If the father is documented MIA then I would believe a letter from just the mother would be sufficient. If you are concerned there could be an issue perhaps something from the courts (if possible) to support the MIA claim of the father as back up. Please let me know if you go and how things work out. I'm very interested since this is not a unique situation.
Hello paceyfilmer7427! Good question! I went to verify the age and found the following on the policy website; Drinking Alcohol On Board: The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the bars, lounges and gift shops is 18 years of age. In the event that Bar/Restaurant/Gift Shop staff are in question that a guest is less than 18 years old, they shall request picture identification, prior to serving the drink or selling the bottle of liquor. Carnival reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. help.carnival.com.au/app/answers/detail/a_id/53/~/liquor-and-beverage-policy It appears the age limit has been lowered. I plan on digging to find out when they lowered it so I can make the needed corrections to my video. Thanks for taking the time to watch and ask your question.
Hello everyone My wife and I will having our first cruise I booked the cruise she is my guest ! I planning to get a cruise cash my question if I buy the cruise cash for 500 bucks that is good foe everything on a ship my wife will be able to use it also with her onboard card???? since I'm the account holder?? Not sure how it works!!! Thanks for any help!!
Hello pzystembitang2638! That's super exciting! Let us know what you think. Is this 'bar cash' under your Carnival Account? Or Carnival Cruise cash? Bar cash can only be used at the bars where as Carnival Cruise cash can be used all over the ship for shopping, casino, arcade, specialty dinning, taxes, excursions, and bars. Cruise Cash is an immediate credit on your Sign and Sail card (account). As long as your Sign and Sail cards are linked to the same payment option you both will be able to use the cruise cash. Word of warning: it's non-refundable and can't be transferred to another cruise. So you either use it or lose it. Check out these links for more info. 🙂 www.carnival.com/cruise-cash/cruise-cash-D28_1
Hi Sharoncruisingscene! Thanks so much for subscribing. There is so much detail to see in port it can be fun. And if you love to people watch this would be one of the best places to do so. 🙂
Thanks! I try not to complain to much on these things. I mean, I am on a cruise being taken care of. But it can't be all good all the time so I try give a heads up to clients and fellow cruisers. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Hello hedilewis1347! Thanks for taking the time to watch and ask your questions. Unfortunately it did. But we have been reassured by many very seasoned cruisers that the storm we sailed through isn't a common occurrence. www.tiktok.com/@lucra_journey/video/7104813145528651054
Hi raymccarty! Sounds like you've got a story or two. I'm sorry to hear you aren't interested in Carnival at this time. Please let me you haven't given up on cruising altogether? There are so many other lines to pick from and they are all having some pretty nice deals.
Enjoyed the video, Donna. I was chuckling as you went over the details...seems much ado about nothing...except some of the deals they send you. 200 nights!? I'll be 100 by then! lol
Hi natlvr! Thabks for reaching out. Good question. Yes, the walls and ceiling are magnetic on the Sunrise. Just keep in mind that room stewards have the right to ask you to take it down should they view it as a potential problem. But, knock on wood, we haven't had any ask us to yet. :-)
Im finally platinum and having a special line at guests service's is really nice. Priority boarding is ok. Getting off the ship when the cruise is over is good. But being able to drop off what you carry on the ship to your cable as soon as you board is awesome. You can't hang around the cabin. But being able to drop off what you carried on nice.
Yes, I agree. There are so many small details that are being quietly changed these days as the cruise industry tries to adapt to the changing travel markets. It can be quite vexing at times. 🙂 My hope is that they settle on these things soon so I can make an updated video.
All rooms on this ship only have 1 US outlet. You can bring a c converter to use the ones under the bed. People tend to think they have mini fridges. They are beverage cooolers or otherwise called wine fridges. They have always had these since i started cruising 20 years ago. They have never been mini fridges. Put the ice bucket in there and it gets colder too. I am surprised they didnt take your fan. A recent statement was put out that you will no longer be allowed to hang fans from the ceiling. Just a heads up.
Hello Stillwatericemom! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment on our video. You have so many great points! Thanks for the idea of the ice bucket. We will try it on our next sailing. 🙂 I did find where its stated for Carnival that there is only one outlet designed into each stateroom unless it's listed otherwise. However John Heald addressed the question of the ceiling fans, and you are correct. The ceiling fans are banned. (Unfortunately, for my husband. The ceiling fan did a great job on the last sailing.) You can bring a fan the fits into your bag as long as it's 12in or less and has no surge protector. But I do know that Norwegian has stated they will be banning all fans as you pointed out. Again, I really appreciate the time you took to comment as I value the experience you have. The more we learn the better our trips will be. 🙂 help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2822/kw/portable%20electric%20fans
I’m so gutted we were meant to go to Skagway And was looking forward to white pass train (whole reason we booked our cruise). Can you please tell me what is the absolute best excursion in Icy Strait Point please?
Hi Debbie! That is upsetting to hear. I can understand why you would feel that way. ISP does have a slower charm but it all depends on what kind of excursion your hoping for. Most of the excursions for ISP are experience based like the whale watching or the tour of the island in a Tlingit Canoe. They do have one of the highest zip lines advertised around, a sky course of sorts, and the gondola rides to wilderness point and beyond. Going off your comment about hitting the White Pass Train for Skagway I would venture to suggest the Tlinget Canoe tour or the Hoonah Sightseeing & Tribal Dance as they are more area/history based. I would love to know which one you end up picking and what you thought about it. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Been cruising Princess on and off for many years (even a Sitmar), never was blue, passed gold up went straight to Ruby, never got anything. Now Princess has moved me to Platinum, hope to get something. As a side note my travel agent did the match deal with MSC and am now Gold with them, hope to get something
Hi Robert! Thanks for watching. That's wild, I'd be curious to see your cruise profile on Princess to see how you did that. As a travel advisor I was able to run through Princess Cruise Line's training and go right to elite. But my husband has had to walk through the levels. He teases me that "One of us needed to get all the colors to display." 🙂 How is the MSC loyalty match program? I was rather excited to hear they were implementing it.
Too many rules, doesn't sound fun! I'd rather have my own yacht and drink as much as I want, when I want. Cruising sucks these days, too many restrictions, and feel like a cow hurdle with lines everywhere to get on, off ship, etc. Giving me a headache listening to rule after rule, "can't do this, "can't do that",
Hi Greg! I agree with the cow/lines mentality. But since I haven't gotten around to buying that yachat yet (insert cheeky smile) I'll have to keep vacationing this way. Although I do really enjoy the full service of the crew. Since I have 7 children I really appreciate when others cook and clean for me. Somehow I get the feeling I would be stuck doing that if I owned my own yacht. :-) Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
@@labreeskadurkes5531 Hello LeBreeska! Thanks for the question, its a legit one. I did jump on the website and check out their online Fun Shops and saw the fruit basket you were talking about but no others which is interesting because I can recall seeing individual bottles before the industry pause. Unfortunately, if you are already onboard anything you purchase in the shops or in port will be held until the end of your cruise. Your only option, if you didn't have a chance to bring it onboard with you, is to purchase glasses of wine or the fruit basket. I'm sorry as I know that's not what you would like to hear. I included the link below if you wished to take a look. www.carnivalcruiseline.de/en/vacation-carnival/general-information/liquor-and-beverage-policy
Oh good grief! And this is suppose to be relaxing and fun?. Are there straight lines….literally….that we must stay within while we are there too? There’s more rules here than jr high! No wonder people are sneaking alcohol on board! I was going to take my first ever cruise in October but I feel like I’d never learn all the rules before it’s time to get off the ship and be treated like a naughty kid 🤦🏼♀️
@@lorilawlove7721 Evening! Depending on the time you arrive at the port will determine the time and length of lines you stand in. If you wait until around 1pm on embarkation day you will find the lines and wait significantly less. My husband and I prefer to wait until the main crowd has already moved through. Please don't let the rules scare you off. It's like any other large vacation establishment. I only list the rules so people are aware and avoid as much unpleasantness on their vacation as possible. Also feel free to contact me if you have an concerns or questions I might be able to help clear up. Cruising is a fantastic way to vacation.
Thank you for the video. I have seen other travel agents do videos on this subject, but you had it really well organized. Plus if Princess changes things around, you will have the best up to date info on it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. It is my goal to help give useful information in a simple and organized way so people can enjoy their vacations to the fullest. 🙂
Alaska is just a mile and half from the Icy Strait Point tourist trap, that is the Tlingit native town of Hoonah. BTW Inner Sophia Point is the original name.
My upcoming cruise just canceled Skagway for Icy Strait Point and I’m furious as I still don’t see the appeal of this place that looks like nothing more than a manufactured tourist destination. I checked Yelp reviews and the majority refer to it as a waste of time. My cruise is in 3 weeks now and I’m dreading it… first and last cruise ever….☹️😡
I understand your anger. Skagway was, by far, my favorite port on our Alaska cruise. I suppose Skagway is still struggling to repair their dock after a couple of rock slides earlier this summer. I agree ISP does seem to be underwhelming but I hope with continual effort from the locals and cruise lines that it could become a rather pleasant place to visit. Please don't give up on cruising! It's such a fantastic way to travel. Keep me in mind if you have any questions or booking concerns. Even on the ship. I like to think I'm a pretty good Travel Advisor. ;-)
@@journeyonabudget-lucrajour2781 thanks so much for your reply. I’m so bummed. We saved all year for this and now I don’t want to go at all. THIRTEEN hours in a place like this seems sheer torture, I don’t give a flip about an old salmon cannery, I don’t want to walk through a museum, shop at overpriced gift shops or eat at a crappy fast-food type crab restaurant… I don’t even like crab! Is there ever a way the cruise line (Norwegian) would refund your trip or give you a credit for another date? I’m not trying to be a Debby-downer at all.. but going to Skagway was one of the reasons we booked this. I’ve been searching RU-vid, Yelp, etc to get some positive reinforcement about ISP… but not feeling it 😑
@@laurenml1222 I completely understand. Our stay was only 6 or so hours. 13 does seem overly long. I know Norwegian has spent quite a bit of money (somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million) building up ISP and another similar port closer to Ketchikan so that might be why you're scheduled to spend so much time there. My suggestion to you would be to call into Norwegian and ask about a transfer. You can't cancel completely since you are within the 60 days prior to sailing and that will cost you the entirety of your purchase price.
@@JimmyFranny I feel like it was a bait and switch! I only booked this cruise August 14th along with the Skagway excursion and just found out the cruise lines were ALL well aware that Skagway was closed! Now I’m stuck going on this long awaited cruise that I’ve saved for all year for and not able to go to the place we booked it for. I can’t find a single thing I’m interested in at ISP.. it’s a manufactured tourist trap….😡😭
