I am a composer, musician, sound recordist and photographer. Here I plan to share recording tips, kit reviews and some of my recordings. An album of field recordings will happen in the next few months I hope.
It's great that you showed us how you put it together, but then it finished without providing a sound example…I'm a little unsure what the point of all this was! Thank you, but I don't know what this was supposed to contribute to potential users.

I have H4n PRO, whiuch has a little more silent pre-amps compared to H4n, but c-series contact mics recorder with H4n PRO are really a great mics. I have tried them also with Tascam Dr-100 MKiii and I have got also great results. For any question, just ask!
Led Zeppelin performed at this event ... but they are slightly to the right of the screen, so sorry about that. In the next life. Basically all music camera people have always sucked.
This is great guitar playing. Just straight into the amp with very little, if any, guitar effects. No need for all those gadgets. What colour of his signature PRS is that Bernie's playing?
Which adapter did you use...? I've had a look on Amazon and there are quite a few Sony MIS to Universal Adapters, but none of them have the HDR PJ620 listed as a compatible camera... Grrr!
Mark Berry puzzlewood is a public attraction in The Forest Of Dean, also a filming location for Doctor Who, Merlin and a Star Wars film amongst others. They also have self catering cottages giving crack of dawn access..
Your video quality is excellent and beautifully put together. The light and atmosphere of that sunset was simply stunning. Great work. Hope you'll be posting more soon
Ralph Goldsmith thank you, the week co-insided with the forest fires in Portugal and Spain last years so sunsets were rather good. I can't wait to go back to this part of Italy again.
Paul's right. There are measurable differences. It's physics. Furthermore every piece piece of wood has unique sonic characteristics. The strings are influenced by the wood and the pickups are influenced by the whole. Some people hear the differences and some don't. If you don't, sorry, you got short changed.
Todd jones Thanks for commenting Todd, it makes me laugh that so many fail to see how wood resonates in an electric guitar. There is an interview that Bernie Marsden did with Lee Anderton with a double neck SG and he played the side that was switched off and had the other pick-ups on and it sounded rather excellent. I still love the blood orange 594 SC....
I've also noticed that some don't respond to ear training. If you can't hear it to start with.. An electric guitar isn't purely electronic. To anyone that would argue that, I would say. "Explain feedback" ? Then I ask, "Explain pickup squeal" ? Every single aspect of the electric guitar is a symbiotic relationship with many complexities that factor into audible tone.
yep.. I've been mauling guitars for fourty-nine years so I've learned a thing or two and the argument began in earnest when Danelectro began using masonite. They had a unique tone I suppose for certain uses, but they have little sustain and sound not unlike a cigar-box guitar which is more proof. I used to sit in a chair at the end of an assembly line making Traynor amps here, where I live in the 70's. The guitar provided to me for testing was a Dan Armstrong acrylic guitar. It sounded cool plugged in and accoustically but it sounded nothing like my ES335 or my step-fathers Tele. Jimi Hendrix knew. How many strats did he buy at a time only to keep 3 or 4 of them? There's a luthier in Vancouver named Dan Iverson that I learned a lot from. He made guitars one at a time and he used a xylophone hammer when he was selecting wood for an electric guitar. He was acutely aware.
Todd jones congratulations on such a longevity in music, I seem to have my hands on an electric guitar every 9 years or so and started with percussion and didgeridoo (Australian Aboriginal wind instrument) and know how that resonates, so I am not qualified to call myself a guitarist. i do however understand resonance. I have to wonder how someone can play an instrument and not understand this. I can imagine all sorts of things were made over the years as fads etc. I taught myself synths and keys along the way.
With the Sony AX53, press the button behind the focus ring until a small menu appears on screen and use the focus ring to select gain, then press again and then you can use the ring to adjust gain.
That is a bit odd that you are not seeing it, mine had it from new, but you could check your firmware for updates. Make sure you come out of auto with the green icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
Hi, I also dont have gain listed when pressing manual button. Just: Zoom, Focus, Exposure, IRIS, Shutter Speed, AE Shift and White Balance Shift. Newest firmware 1.02 installed.
You should do more....Very nice. We are coming from a different angle but also interested how sound and images work together. Please check the site if you get time. Here's one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q1bBdvBQTD0.html and others on the site. Cheers.
Mr Bee thank you! Music should support the images and not control them (this music is a little loud but has the fundamental theme pf supporting the mood) (hopefully!) something many seem to lose sight of. The actual soundscapes pf this video were recorded with the Rode Stereo Videomic Pro direct to camera.
Hi, just tested today the 100fps with my new and long expected Ax53, but Pinnacle 17 that I got used to doesn't seem to know anything above 60p. It doesn't preview or edit the 100p video. I've noticed that some use programs like - vlc media Player, Premiere Pro, Final cut. Could you please tell me one that you know it can handle 100fps and has a friendly interface similar with pinnacle? I mean, years back when I went from Windows media player and Pinnacle 9 because they didn't know HD to Lightworks (This one came up to me) I needed a lot of time and a dozen tutorials just to get it started, and all this after years with pinnacle 9 and windows movie maker. Thank you!
Jackal_21 hi Jackal_21, congrats on the camera and sorry about the frustrations with the editing. I use Magix Movie Edit Pro and this handles the files ok. You can also up-res 4K files to full 4k.. I will re-read your comment and see if any other points need replying to.
Just wanted to say miss seeing you on television , but hopefully you'll be back on soon . I just seen the video that Mike posted from a couple of weeks ago , if he has a dispute with you , he should keep it out of the public , I didn't care for his comments . With that said , have you watched WD ? I don't care for the way they have glossed over the cars they are working on , not enough time spent doing repairs or talking step by step the way that you would do , but only time will tell . Anyway hope all is well , and looking forward to seeing Where's Edd !
You have room for improvement: -Frame rate of your video is very low and makes playback choppy. -Audio is one channel only. -Your viewers can't see you properly because of your choice of hat.
I couldn't hear any of the talking. Was any mention made of impending Bernie/PRS new collaborations? In the Andertons 'Back at Bernie's' Bernie mentioned something new was in the pipeline. EDIT: PRS announcement 31st Aug: blog.andertons.co.uk/guitars/prs-se-bernie-marsden Disappointing though, just another run of the Bernie SE with a satin neck, only three colours and a price of £799. :o(
