I remember my first time lol. They are very sensitive machines but one you get it down they are a blast I load my chipper with it most days. And yeah rotating grapple is a must
in my own opinion i find the log grapple by branch manager or tna is a far superior attachment for doing residential tree work. being able to carry limbs long and track around obstacles give you much better mobility
i agree the only reason i got the root grapple was because i have to load it into my dump trailer. If i was loading branches into a chipper i would for sure by the branch manager
Brother you can sharpen those spurs with a file or I used a table grinder. You grind the inside. Hope this saved you some cash! Keep up the good work!!
That's a pretty big Oak tree. Lots of rigging. Note: You are running your rope through the ABR Thunder Sling improperly. After threading through the first ring you wrap the rope around and come in to the next ring from the opposite side. So on, so forth. This avoids the rope from contacting and harming the sling. Check it out online.
I see you do this a lot on your base anchors with a running bowline and wanted to comment on it. A running bowline is not life safety without the yosemite finish. Loading and unloading a running bowline can eventually lead to failure. The yosemite finish keeps the bowline from undoing itself from loading and unloading. Just want to see you safe in the tree!
Hey btother good job ive done the same thing before by my self it reall does suck sometimes...if u can bring a helper...some times ill rig the tops up and set the rigging line up before i even go in the tree and just lock it off in the porta-rap and some time i set my rope up for speed lining before i go up in a tree..just some helpful tips when doing it by yourself...great job brother be safe

Always nice when the guy across the street says "hey how much would you charge to take these limbs off", you made fast work of it. Cool when you rode the branch down with you. Hard being a one man band but you do well.
I find on these types i have more control if i under cut and let the leaner ease into the fall. Gives more time to react and get out the way plus you can see what the snag is going to do
Ugh! Planning is everything. When cutting up the leaners, planning for the direction of the fall is important. Control by type of cut used and rope tie-offs can be used to help in directing or preventing the leaner from falling in haphazard way......like getting wedged up in live trees. Good go of it anyways.
And if you're really set on buying a machine have you tried out a dingo yet I think that would be better for you just my opinion way smaller they can pick up the same weight I believe different models and you could put it on your trailer so easy and they fit in the backyards so easy
I would never try to tell you how to run your business this is just my opinion I would buy a chipper before I buy a machine a dingo or something like that a chipper is going to save you so much room and time you can always load wood by hand for a little bit and buy a machine down the road just my opinion buddy God bless you're doing great
I think you’re missing the fact that he’s a solo operator who doesn’t have a crew. It’s hard to manage logistics when you have to tow two separate items such as a trailer and chipper. Ideally you have a chipper and a dump bed but if he’s got the dump trailer, the loader makes sense as a single operator. He can haul the dump trailer and loader in one trip.
thanks for your opinion makes sense. I like the avant 423 wheel loader i bought a couple months ago. It does not tear up the grass like a track machine and gets through most gates. I dont have to use matts with this machine cause of the low ground pressure tires. The other nice thing about this machine is telescopes high enough to load the trailer perfectly. I fit whole trees 3'-4' diameter in my dump in one load. I am turning 40 this year, and need a helper lol. god bless and be safe

@@br-dj2ti I don't. Both have their advantages. Guilty of Treeson recently purchased an Avant as well and said his main reasoning was the wheel loaders are better for moving wood further distances and the mini-skids are better for getting into tighter areas. I'm guessing this avant is going to have more carrying capacity than most mini-skids.
they had a good deal going on at the time for 37k at zero percent financing for three years. I love this machine it gets through gates, and maneuvers around tight spots. I mostly like this machine cause i dont need to buy the mats to keep from tearing up yards
