The story is similar. These Royals keep changing their names and altering the spin on the truth and History. It confuses everything. This Emperor's harem remained small and manageable. Ruyi's harem was a zoo. The Great Qing had been around for a while by then. This is like a Prequel. Situations can repeat through generations so this could happen and some people fail to learn from their mistakes. Progress is great as long as you don't change anything.
Tbf, Hongli didn’t have a choice in who his empress was. He was going to choose Ruyi, but because of his father’s empress being punished he wasn’t allowed to.
@@kaylapayton477 In the beginning that is true but with all the intrigue, backstabbing and double dealing, over time Ruyi was sacrificed and betrayed over and over and that was by choice. Taiji actually did protect Bu Ran throughout the story.
