Shit man. life hit him hard, huh? What a guy though and still seems like he's keeping a good mindset after going through so much. Cool he can still incorporate it in his life in a safe manner
It seems so, but a bit weird since he hasn't had a fight for several years. Last I saw him he did a discrete comback in a pure grappling match a couple of years ago in Sweden but he lost.
Nice that he keeps himself in shape and having a good time doing it. I highly doubt he'll ever compete again though. He took the the initial losses at the top too hard, permanently lost his self esteem and doesn't seem to dare investing emotionally in the fights any longer. Once you get married, start family and treat the fighting career as just a job, then there is no longer passion enough to win at elite level. He had a great career though. First fight against Jones belongs in Hall of Fame.
Yeah, he had a decent run but this first fight with Bones scared his psyche for the rest of his career. He's not in his best years anymore ( he never really was, the highlight of his career is going the distance and close call with Jones, everything else is barely memorable besides getting KOed early by Rumble ). I don't think he has any juice to offer in the cage in the UFC. The level is higher than ever in his weight classes. His legacy is already half tarnished , it would be fucked up to watch him get back and get obliterated by the younger wolves. He should be satisfied with his legacy of being " the man who almost beat Jon Jones" and call it a wrap like it is. One more defeat would bin that.
He's a true warrior, and it's a shame the first Jones fight didn't go his way. I think you're right though, because you can't be the best dad and the best fighter in the world. There's only so much time.
@@notundermywatch3163 agree. but tbf when he was active he fought jones and dc, two goats. I wouldnt say the weightclass has progressed THAT much in terms of fighters.
