I hate the fact that I'm even on here looking for repairs.. last dishwasher was 17 years old working great.. only changed due to remodeling and the new stuff SUCKS!! only 2 YEARS OLD- dead.. WTF!!

I was curious what was making the noise inside the pump, so I disassembled it. The noise maker is a small bearing that was corroded. I was able to buy an exact replacement bearing at local Hardware for $10. Could prob get the same one on Amazon for $5, but I didn’t want to wait. I spent about 4 hours on this silly project but am happy to report dishwasher is running silently again.

There is no point is putting in the same part. It will fail in 2 years. Throw is away and buy a Samsung.

Good video, like everyone else my dishwasher makes the same exact sound. Mine only lasted 3 years until the buzzing started. I wonder if you have to keep replacing the part every 3 years. It's frustrating that this is a problem with the motor and LG won't send out free motors. I'm sure they know it's defective and won't do anything about it.

Ours too. It kept getting louder and after a week or three, the unit stopped working. Had a technician come and it was the pump. LG replaced it for free, but the service was over $200.

Same issue and I’ll say that LG SUCKS. I’ll never buy any other LG brand again. I have issues with all my LG appliances.

Mine is doing the same thing, right about 2 years as well.

This video helped me just replace mine after barely 2.3 years of use. It was cheaper for me to do it than go through the process with LG. Believe it or not, replacing the pump was the easy part. Getting the damn dishwasher back in the space and level to try and match up the screw holes SUCKED!!!

Just curios did LG sent you a new part or did you buy a replacement pump? Also how much did you pay for it.

Note, do not bother trying to get LG to send you a motor under their warranty. They don't say so on their warranty, but they claim they need to send a technician at your dime, for the technician to tell you what you already know, to get the 'free' motor. LG ten-year-warranty is useless for any do it yourselfer.

Great video fixed the problem on my dishwasher perfectly. A few tips for DIYers: 1. Find the right part number on the LG site but the cheapest prices are often sears parts direct 2. Make sure you turn power to the dishwasher off at the breaker before working on it. Make sure it can't turn on and use a power tester tool. 3. There are often three adjustment legs to adjust to make removal easy. Two in the front you adjust with a wrench and one in the back you adjust with a screwdriver on the front housing "Tub up Tub down". Don't force it out or you may damage the legs and not be able to re level the dishwasher. 4. Take a picture of the pump setup with your phone before removal to make sure you reassemble right with all wires 5. MAKE SURE you reconnect the ground wire to the right place. The part has an inverted triangle symbol etched next to the ground mounting holes. 6. Make sure the water hoses and clamps are all the way on and snug. Otherwise they may leak and you have to go back in to fix it (yeah I did this)

I had the same problem started last week exactly 34 days after 1 years warranty expired. The Best Buy Total Tech @ 179/- a year (a Total waste by the way) came home and said that it would cost me normal repair cost and they would give me a 20 % discount for being a Total Tech member. I am calling the local LG repair service and going to pay out of pocket for the bearing noise which might required that circulation pump to be replaced. If its going to cost me more than 400/- that would be the first and last repair I would think of doing before tossing the unit and buying a new one. I have water softners and no hard water. LG anything has been bad luck or just poor quality for me. The high end TV is not compatible with my high end receiver with every software update. Washer /Dryer has had issues but fortunately working after service. The Refrigerator that was over 3500/- was a total loss after 5 years sitting in the basement. I have a LG gas range that still works 8 years + (I guess those were better made). I am done buying LG. They work great until they fail the first time. From then on there are down hill. Their Service and support is not standard and almost impossible to reach.Their ThinQ app is flaky and and a total waste. I have never had to say this about any other Manufacturer. I hope this helps someone.

Good morning Brian I to have an LG dishwasher different model number but looks exactly like mine I also bought it about two years ago and is making the same noise. It has a ten- year manufacturer warranty. There charging roughly 286$ to have a technician come out and verify that it is the drive motor. I have looked up the part on Amazon but cannot find it Would you be able to let me know where you ordered it from I would greatly appreciate that Hope you get my message as it has been well over a year since you posted this Thank You enjoy your day Maybe I should try direct from LG ill give it a shot Thank You Fred

I looked up the part number and looks like it was the drain pump motor that is not covered by warrenty apparently.

Checked the price today 9-25-2023 at the official LG parts store. The circulation pump you replaced ABT72989205 is $275.67 USD which is over $100 more in less than a year.

I still thinking on replacing the part or buy a new dishwasher. This was a pain to remove, I think it would be easier to put it back. Mine failed because of a leak....

Is it circulation pump or drain pump. Because I search on google it shows as a drain pump.
