I have older Craftsman, S&K, Proto, ICON and some Snap On tools plus a few other brands. Icon seems to have pretty decent tools and the price seems good but make no mistake about it, if I had the money I would have a complete set of Snap On tools including the boxes. But I don't have the money especially for what I use my tools for so I'll remain a multi brand tool guy.
You see, the rank (when I was starting out in 1986) it was Snap-On #1, Mac #2, Match #3, a far, far distant was Cornwell. No one bought Cornwell. My dealer was Snap-On. No other dealer came by our shop. So, I bought Snap-On. To be honest, we were taught to look down on other brands. IE, it was Snap-On or nothing. With that said, I still own my original Snap-On KR660B roll cab. It's tiny by todays standards, 50"x22". Comparing that vintage box to the new Icon roll cabs, Icon is built very well. Does it compare to a modern KTL1023 series. No, but neither does my 38 year old KR660B.
I know this will be a stupid comment, I’m so sick of the color red on tools. I’m red color blind so I know that don’t make sense. Imagine being completely blind and everyone around you constantly tells you how beautiful your wife is but you have never seen her. Maybe that will make sense maybe it won’t.
Certainly not advertising another channel cause this one is great but royalty auto just did a test in the snap on truck with the dealer and the snap on box wrenchs failed against icon
Sir please get you some impact sockets that's so dangerous do your research on sockets you are scaring the heck out of me I've seen them shatter it ain't good
For the rj45 connector, have you noticed any issues with your connection? It doesn't look like it's shielded and the starlink cables call for shielding. That's why I've been hesitant to put an rj45 connector in and instead just have the cable run through a waterproof cable passthrough.
Strap on tool fan boys i spent alot less alot of the tools look to be copies from other tool makers and all of it has held up. I have snap on mac and ectra and yes they wear out and break and yes i can turn them in. I beat the crap
I like them too. I have mostly other tools since I bought them years ago. I have a U.S. General in my machine area I like all the shallow drawers for machine bits and collets. I have three of the ones with wood tops in my woodshop, I have a 3 section Mac on one side of my shop in front of the car hoist (Nussbaum). I have the Icon 73” with a locker, lower drawer section and the work station top in front of the car/truck Bend-Pak hoist. Then I have a Snap On box I inherited from my son mostly filled with impact stuff and some body tools. Last is a U.S. General Cart that I keep by the big rollup door and I can take it outside to save going to the big Icon so often.
If the icon line was out when I started in the auto industry I would have a whole collection of it. Most anything new nowadays is from Harbor freight. My earthquake electric impact is going strong after 5 some years I think it is.
snapon is overpriced for what they are now tbh. There are some of them that are worth it but most of them are not anymore. They might be the Nike of tools but Reboks do the same thing
Nothing worse than trying to dig threw loose tools to find a socket..especially when you have ropes chainsaws landscaping tools ..mechanical tools its nightmare ..harborfreight i like but they never have full kits in a case
Great video might be betting some Friday but would have liked to see your sitting in there too see what you see and also the clearance in the truck with the seats like that so I would know what to expect other then that great video
