I remember the Lennon assassination well, even though I was only 4 in 1980. A few years later I’d be watching Pages from Ceefax waiting for whatever daytime TV programme was coming on in an hour or so, and pining for this fabled land called America where they had some ridiculous number of TV channels. Fast forward 40 years and we have hundreds of channels to select from - practically all of them are filled with absolute rubbish and all I want to do is watch old Pages from Ceefax! 👍🏻
Thank you for this of course. Interesting so too for sure. This was at the time when Channel 4 started at the times they did, so in the daytime they would either show 4-Tel, Oracle, and then the IBA CH4 ETP1 test card, as they did here so too. That went on to September 1987 as far as I know; when they then started showing ITV schools early on and so alas these downtime slots sort of ended really. Well done too!
Thank you for this of course. Interesting as others have said too that the closedown has tone, but then Test Card F with tone also last of all indeed?!
After 2 AM the OU started their programmes till 7AM in those days doing an OU degree was a bugger remember video recorders were very expensive. The only way to catch up is weekends in the morning from 4 am to 7am .
Brilliant, this is the sort of thing I love to see, and get annoyed I'm pretty much just too young to remember (I was 5 months old when this was recorded).
The IBA ETP1, 4-Tel On View, Oracle On View, 4-Tel On View and IBA ETP1 sequence accompanied by music (predominantly classical) was the norm for Channel 4 throughout the morning in 1986 (I was 8 years old when this was recorded).
its early hours of 2nd january 1987. Here's what they showed in another region (in sync): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--WGaRmXRDzg.html
