Interesting. A soap/lime reaction is the basis for some waterproofing methods like tadelakt, but this is the first time I've seen anyone use it with clay. I am curious if there is any chemical reaction like there is with lime, or if the soap itself is the waterproof layer? In either case it seems like reapplying soap as needed over the years would be simple.
I have a batch of imo3 cooking now It's the 3rd day my 1st imo3 it warm and completely covered in white but I notice in the big clumps some black mold is this bad please help or is this OK thankyou Peace&Blessings.
I had the same question so I looked it up. Black soap is soap made using the ash of plantain skins, palm tree leaves, cocoa pods and shea tree bark another version use the ash of camwood. It is then made like traditional soap mixing the alkali from the ash with fats and oils like coconut or palm to make soap. Any kind of natural "Wood ash" soap may be worth trying. Hope it helps.

Hello guys. So in this stage, we kept it for 9days, under a tree in the forest, inside a bamboo. So when we harvested it, we had different colour microorganisms along with white ones, in the rice, is that fine ? I also wanted to know the quantities of jaggery and rice we need to mix ?
Hello Moonbeam Farmstay. A week should suffice in colder regions like yours, we keep it for 3/4 days here. It’s best if you see it covered in fluffy white or light grey mould rather than other colours although a bit of the funky ones are fine. You will sometimes find it totally covered in green or black which is best not to use, shouldn’t smell bad either. You can add equal amount of jaggery to IMO1. All best.
Great video. But my understanding of organic farming is that the soil micro organisms thrives on soils which are rich in organic carbon. On a subtropical area what should be the carbon percentage? And how to increase the carbon percentage? Further your video was very informative and look forward to more.
Carbon is a key compound in soil organic matter mainly for nutrient & water retention, alongside the complex mix of microbes and other components that make up soil life. This is a natural farming method, a combination of plant biology and fermentation which feeds and activates the beneficial microorganisms that are already present in your native environment, which in turn feeds the soil and then the plant or crop. Organic farming inputs have a fall off which means one has to keep upping it and buying more bottles of it. Whereas the idea with these indigenous microorganisms, if done well, they persist year after year waking back up for you to benefit from, perpetuated naturally like in a forest. And all you did was take a sample of nature from your local environment. We use biochar for carbon sequestration. Hope this was helpful to you. You can email us for any further doubts.
