Just a little bit about me: *I have been a CNA Instructor since 2011. I am known as the baking instructor because I bake and/or cook for my students all the time. Chocolate cures all :)
*I have been a nurse since 1991 and have worked in many areas of nursing but I must confess that being a CNA Instructor is my absolute favorite thing to do.
*I managed a CNA school for 4 years
*l helped pilot a brand new CNA program for a school district
*I live in Washington State so most of my content will be focused in that direction. Although some of the basics will apply to caregiving in general. Being thorough and compassionate has no judicial boundaries.
My video content will vary over time as far as format goes. Recorded videos, live videos. Quizzes and pertinent information.

It's pretty tricky in the beginning. You have to literally train your ears to tune out the outside world and only focus on the sound of the heartbeat. The heartbeat is very distinctive, It wont run or bubble or scratch. Once you master that technique you will be able to hear the sounds even under the loudest circumstances. @@christimarie0682 Practice is key. Manual Blood Pressure and Radial Pulse are 2 of the hardest skills to master, initially, but with adequate practice you will surely get it down. Check out the video link above, It might shine a bit of light as far as hearing the sounds correctly. If you are able, buy yourself a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope to practice on friends and family outside of the classroom.
Yes and no. The state exam is a compilation of topics, including mental health, presented in the form of multiple choice questions and scenerios. There's no way to know the exact questions that will be on the state exam so it's best to familiarize yourself with the topics as they are taught in CNA programs as well as CNA test prep applications such as my videos and cheat sheets.
