Heyyy! I’m a marketeer in Leeds from hull and know the market you were at. It is a lovely one but you’re not alone that people in Leeds have been struggling with sales recently. (From what I’ve heard). I’m prioritising end of the month markets atm. Not sure if that would help?
@@fredslewis oh hey!! It was a lovely market with lovely people but just lacking in actual sales. Good to know I’m not alone! I’m thinking timing with payday is the way to go for sure but sadly I’d already booked another for mid November. Hoping it’ll be festive shopping for most people by then though 🤞🏻
This happened to me at my very first market! Then I went on to sell lots and attend bigger and better markets. It takes time to find ways to engage with market goers and make a connection between them and your art - it gets easier I promise ❤
@@tinygiraffeco the worst part is this wasn’t my first market 😅 made it even more of a shock to the system haha! Think I will focus on only doing big, art specific events in future
I've been doing markets for about 10 years now, and I have to be honest, I only do November and December markets now as what I sell is gifty so people don't really have a reason to buy the rest of the year I feel anyway. I'm also super fussy, I only do handmade / art markets. @weewoollywonderfuls asked about getting up and talking to people, and I'm very much on that thought, I always find I make more sales if I stand up, I reallyl want one of those high folding chairs, so I'm standing height without the hurty feet, just need to find an affordable one! haha. I tend to take something to do, so it's not like pouncing on people too x
Oh, i understand your sadness and disapointment. I'm an artist too, and even if i almost never try to sold, i could imagine how you feel. But you know, even if you loose money, we couldn't win everytimes, and we never really loose. You gain a little more customers, more experience, more adventure. LIfe is not a regular line as you know, so sometimes, everything don't go perfectly, but we shouldn't worry about the littles obstacles on our path. Maybe next time, you would have more sucess, it's not the end. Don't let this little part of your life, make you believe that your art is not great enough. My ex-husband, was making wonderful jewelry (i don't say that because he was my husband, but his art was really brillant), but he didn't sold a lot sometimes. He just took every market of thing like a opportunity to grow up a little more. So don't worry, really, i hope you would be fine. But don't let that alter your trust in yourself and your art. If i would be here, i would probably have buy something to you, because your art is lovely. Please, don't be sad, all that matters the most is if your art MAKES YOU HAPPY. ME i love to draw and create, and nothing will affect me about it, because i know my value.
@@starlucanyaart you’re right, and this time I learned that not every market is a winner! My customers just weren’t there it seems. Thank you for your lovely comment x
@@weewoollywonderfuls I did, and always do as I know it makes such a difference! Don’t think I would’ve made any sales if I hadn’t. The footage of me sitting down knitting was in the last hour or so when I was done in 😅
@@JudithMasters-y9r that was in Cumbria I believe, Yarndale is North Yorkshire and has been for a good few years, equally dangerous on the bank balance though!
Love it! I would recommend just a touch more colour, of course your style is quite minimalist but it would be more striker for an onlooker if it was a bit more vibrant! Great work!
Beautiful! Somehow I managed to come in at the end of the video and instantly recognised the tunnel so went straight back to the beginning to watch the lot. Cutting the centre out was a master stroke. Are those Inktense paints you use on fabric?
How lovely to see you enjoy your day in Clapham. Can recommend the Clapdale yarn, it’s lovely to knit with for “outerwear” items. How did I not know about the new gallery? It’s only 3 miles down the road so guess where I’m going today?
That’s a pretty little thing! 👍🏻 That free motion presser foot isn’t really helpful when straight stitching. Also feed dogs are down when free form stitching, but up when straight stitching. If you try this all out your arms (and projects) will be so happy, but please don’t forget your lovely Freeform stitching!!!! ❤
I don’t have a straight stitching foot for this machine so tend to just freehand everything 😅 it’s not often I do any straight lines so I can usually get away with it! You’re right about the feed dogs though I should have thought about that. Just used to always having the same settings all the time!
Your room is so cute! So much work to get everything how you want it too. With a beautiful room and view like that, it looks perfect for settling in to creating :3
Thanks for the fast response, last question, did you experience any holds of your money? The guys from PayPal had me to do an payment to my business account usin a regular credit card, it went through, I got exited, i did hang up ready to jump in and few minutes later I got an email from PayPal saying that my money wll be on hold for 21 days, looking on RU-vid some guys got the same problem even up to 180 days, did you experienced such a thing? Thanks again
How reliable is on the go and also let me ask you, is this guy including PCI compliance with it or you have to pay it separately, I asked you because I have QuickBooks and the reader and after 3 months this people tell me that I have to pay a company to be PCI compliance, that pissed me off because it is another $16 a month just for that. Thanks for you experience it is very valuable for me because I am planning to move, please let me know.
It’s been very reliable for me when out and about, maintains its charge all day and is quick to wake after it’s been unused for a period of time. Zettle is a PCI certified company. Hope that helps!
I still love the classic pen and paper myself, but I love trello for keeping everything together, the bigger picture sort of lists. Then I refer to my Trello lists when I'm making my paper weekly to do :)
Very interesting Rachel. I am familiar with the songs on this album but had never seen the cover before. I wonder if the women were even paid for their work? (I doubt it)
I also doubt it! Would’ve been one of those things that they’ve asked their wives for the simple reason that they don’t need to pay them. I wonder if the production were not only on a tight schedule but also a tight budget? Which is a huge shame because these ladies produced some beautiful work that they deserve to be paid for!
I'm enjoying your vlogmas videos Rachel - lots of variety every day and it was great to see a bit of your process. I'm sure an online course will be interesting
Thanks lovely! Hoping I can keep up with it 😅 It’s all about keeping it realistic for you! This is the first year I’ve thought it would be doable for me
Please excuse the audio I have no idea why it sounds like I’m in a tin can, not the ideal start to a month of videos but I promise it gets better from here 😅
Love the video Rachel, I enjoyed watching your sewing/drawing process and I could fully relate to the last minute stuff. I ordered mine from Vista print 3 days before the exhibition date and they thankfully came on time 🤣
The good thing about it is that it automatically turns on from the phone App. I got Square too but to tell you the truth never used it because I don’t like how the customer does see how much I charge unless I show my phone and all my personal messages beeping up! 😂😂
