So am I understanding properly that these western controllers will not turn on if the plow is not hooked up?
@TheFarmerInAdell
@TheFarmerInAdell 10 месяцев назад
Correct. The controller backlighting will illuminate when the plow is hooked up, indicating that the controller has power. That is, as long as the backlights work.

Yo brother thanks for saving me 800$. I fixed my left wing button on my newer controller and then turned around and fixed my older controller. The scoop button didn’t work. The only difference I used 2000 grit lightly. Found it worked better. Your a genius and I’ve already spread the word like a bird to other contractors. Screw the stealerships. They would never tell you this fix!
@mitchcooper348
@mitchcooper348 Год назад
This is TERRIBLE advice! The material on the board and keypad is carbon needed to create conductivity between the keypad and the circuit board. Using sand paper removes the protective layer and causes corrosion to form weeks after doing this! Do NOT use chemicals, sandpaper, or even an eraser. That black material coming off is NOT DIRT. Either have your controller professionally serviced or replace the keypad with a new factory one. This will DAMAGE YOUR CONTROLLER!
@robertlee4165
@robertlee4165 Год назад
You must sell new controllers or do the same thing for people and charge them. There is nothing wrong with this do it yourself fix. A dealer would never tell you this fix cause they want to sell you a new 800$ controller. Cheers

Thanks for the video. I might suggest though that instead of using just a piece of paper to clean the contact surfaces off that you use a dollar bill. Reason is they are lint free. As previously being a radioman in the US Navy we used to have to clean electrical contacts on some of our radio gear and being sensitive to dust and lint we found it to be the best thing to use. Thanks again. Keep on plowing.

I wonder if adding dielectric grease also helps ...thanks
@TheFarmerInAdell
@TheFarmerInAdell 2 года назад
I have not tried that. I would be hesitant to use it because I don't know how it will work. It is not metal-to-metal contact, it is a conductive rubber pad on metal. I'm not sure if the dielectric grease will have a negative effect on it. I can try it when it's not plowing season to see how it reacts.

@@robertlee4165 It's like sanding your teeth to get rid of a stain. You are removing the protective coating and introducing scratches. It will fail faster than cleaning alone (which doesn't last long) and you can never get the "enamel" back. If you don't care about the equipment, sand away.
