Way to go 😊 bless their hearts! Certainly keeps their minds occupied... with a treat to focus on. Very endearing.. they are soooo cute & adorable! Who knows, you may just have them all queing up to be " king of the castle "... except Albert, Ted's and Ivan maybe 😏❤
@@one7decimal2eight cleanup is so much easier. Its almost like kitty litter.. very little waste so they last longer. The herd doesn't eat them.. some do like the shavings and nibble. Wood chips don't break down as fast in the manure pile..these do. They love to roll in the new bedding and it doesn't stick to them like the shavings. It soaks up urine so well, shaving just seem to get wet..this stuff clumps...there are probably more benefits but those are the high points for us
@maplerockfarmny thanks for the quick reply. My mother has a mini horse and mini donkey. Donkey came down with thrush. The stall is a dirt floor with shavings and periodically lime for the urine. I dug it all out months ago and I know she scoops out the shavings when they get soaked. But I am thinking about changing to this. What do you recommend with the dirt floor? Stall is probably 7 x 20. If I do this for her what do you recommend? And how often do you change them out? Do you do it all at once? Sorry for the questions, just want to be able to bang this out for her as she is older now and I don't want her doing that much heavy lifting and I only have a day a week to go out there and help so I want to make sure I do what I can to help stave off any more of this thrush business.
@@one7decimal2eight ok.. so this is best case scenaro.. put down a decent bed of no 2 stone.. drainage stone..not crusher run with dirt. You want the urine and water to be able to flow away. Then add stall mats. They have them at tractor supply..and I always see them used on market place. The mats give a solid surface for them to stand. Ideally space them about an inch apart for drainage. Once you lay them down shovel a few more bits of stone in the middle.. creates a slight hump..again for drainage. We don't use any shavings in the summer. They don't like the urine splashing on their legs. The first few days they might.. but toss some lime so it doesn't smell like the place to pee anymore.. they will learn. This will also help because they won't pee in there as much in the winter In the winter we add 3 bags of pelletiized bedding soaked. Daily we use a poo rake to clean out any issues.. pee or poo. We add approximately 1 bag per week. We have 11 donkeys and 1 mule.. 10x20 run in. If the weather has been real bad and they are in there alot(we don't lock them in..they have free choice to come and go) we clean the shavings out completely and start over with 3 bags. Hope that helps???!! If you have more don't hesitate to ask
@maplerockfarmny ok so this is not the type of barn they come and go as they please inside and outside. They are locked in at night and let out during the day. So just so I have this right after I lay the stone down, then add mats on top? Are they the type of mats with holes or are they solid rubber? If they are solid, doesn't that just collect the pee? What does the rock do then? And you don't use any shavings or pellets on the mats?
The last thing I see... Donkey Zoomies The last thing I hear... Geese Squawk My heart gives out, I go face down in the dirt. I lift up my head, I'm at the Rainbow Bridge🌈 All my lifelong buddies are there... with the, Zoomies! 😀
I enjoyed the video. As a lifelong city dweller, Philadelphia PA, I dont have much exposure to farm life, but if i were there I could watch them all day. Each one has a personality 😂
@@gregmazza8965 a beautiful city in a very different way....and those steak sandwiches.. yum! We'll keep making videos so you can be part of the country life too
Good on you Christine for helping out.. so sorry guys I haven't chipped in for a while with a supply and helping hand myself, things are abit difficult at the mo. Lovely seeing the adorables tucking in again! That was sweet seeing the deer 😂👌
Ohhh wow, sooo good to see them in the open pasture, that excitement displayed truely shows how they love space to let off steam!! 😊 Teddy, blimey he's been through the mill hasn't he! Poor bugger! BUT great news that he's come out the other end, the fighter 👍.. with great persistence, love & care he'll do just fine! I guess you guys will be keeping a close eye on his hoofs when the cold weather comes and the ground turns icy.. let alone.. snow! Brilliant vid guys ❤
Very pretty, in fact stunning! But, if only we could hang on to the summer longer where all the animals are warm and happy basking in the warms rays of sunshine! I hope it's not gonna be a harsh winter again for you guys and for your crew of adorable donks, and Co.. 🤞.... Also hope you are both feeling better after being sick x
@@JenBear-hd6lh ironically closely exposed ... then got sick.. negative but really really bad cold symptoms which became bronchitis really bad.. who knows these days but it was a rough one!!
@@Christinelaraway next time try honking at them like I did in the video... lol.. well maybe not... I seem to have asked them to come closer not go away🤣
I'll second that! It's great to be educated when it comes to love and care for nature and all that is beautifully special in this world of ever changing disruption! Your vids also shows your true compassion, care and love 😍
GORGEOUS. loved hearing all that licking 😂 Go Teddy, Go.. you really want that salt!! I reakon He wants to get it off that wall and take "the lot " to lick it all to himself in private😂
That was a lovely vid guys ❤ ... Ivan, you are so funny and great to see that interaction, bearing in mind Ted and Ivan's past experiences, bless their hearts. Happy to hear both dudes are doing so much better now and truely happy with their fellow crew 👍. I Hope you are both feeling better after you mentioning that you were sick last week.. must be hard when feeling rough and the need to keep up with all the day to day work and care. Lovely to see you Julie cuddling Benjamin, that was such a sweet moment. Love & respect as always.
Where are ya Jimmy?? Hope your safe! Those little baby goslings are very sweet and getting big, bless them. A big " Hi" to Maple.. that was a sweet close up! Lovely to see the bee's dropping by for their water top up 😊. Would love an update on your crew of Donks.. ❤... How's Ivan & Teddy doing? How's Teddy's appetite? Is he doing ok? How's the baby chick's doing too? I know I suggested I couple of names, which were probably "Naff" 😅 but have you named the cuties yet? X
@@jillianfreeto1622 absolutely! If you don't, and you have a nibbler it can he dangerous because they expand. We have put some down dry in wet situations. We have put wet pellets down in all weather and never had a single frozen clump
