We crossed in May 2023 with a long detour. We couldn't go from Hamilton station directly to Dalhousie springs, so had to go via Mount Dare Hotel. French line, WAA line, Poeppel corner. Then we couldn't go to Birdsville directly.. We had to take Hay River Track to Jervois station , then Boulia, Bedourie and then finally Birdsville. This detour was 1350kms instead of 165 KMs.
