Ethical breeder of quality bearded dragons and ball pythons located in Bardstown, KY!
Our first-ever dragon breeding season was in 2012. We created some beautiful colored dragons between 2013 and 2018. After a 3 year hiatus, I've decided to come back. Hoping to bring back the quality bearded dragons that QB Dragons stands for. You won't find a better price and you won't find better quality for the price.
In 2022, we decided to rebrand and change our name to QB's Tails & Scales and also started incorporating ball pythons and ackie monitors into our collection.
I've had bearded dragons for 21 years and even bred for my current oldest, a 13 year old male who prefers to spend his days sleeping. I just wanted to say thank you for the info regarding bearded dragon ages and sizes and what is and isn't over or under weight. There's been so many changes and re-evaluation in the last few years for bearded dragon care that it's becoming difficult to tell what is and isn't reliable. I got a new female last year and she turned 1 year old in August. I was really worried that she was undersized despite my efforts to feed her lots of dusted bugs (mostly crickets because Dubia aren't allowed where I live and hornworm treats) with her salad, but that 1 year old male you showed is the same length as her, so that helped my spirit. Thanks for continuing to educate people who love bearded dragons, and for caring for and creating such beautiful dragons of your own.
As a dragon breeder of 6 years, I’m glad that there are fresh faces out there continuously updating information and delivering new facts that people had questions that couldn’t be answered years ago. Also the upbringing of German giants and the latest redmonsters is another pointer of comparison of a lost gene (german giant) and the new hype red monster. As soon as people find out, not many realize that they needed to be outcrossed IMMENSELY. But they produce them so much, theres a very high chance of inbreeding. So Always always ALWAYS! Do your research and ask every possible question from that breeder before planning to join the hype… I also wanted to point out about weight/size, that does vary, but also note to mention that varies on sex as well. Females need to put in MORE weight than the males for breeding. As females will use a huge amount of energy and nutrient/calcium to produce eggs. Which is why it is vital to give them a little more extra weight, otherwise they will suffer severely from the lack of extra nutrients that could’ve helped them after laying. Other than that, you’ve done astoundingly well in this video my friend.
@smoothsnailing2161 all of those topics have been brought up in videos before, but yes I agree it all needs to be put out there. I've been breeding since 2011 so yea, I know what's happening now compared to the RM.
@@qbstailsnscales This is the first video i've come across you. and i;ve only recently checked out your channel, you're awesome. I hope we can meet someday at an expo! lol
Ya man I don’t know a lot about breeding with dragons but definitely seems like you do it more on the ethical side compared to some other fools iv seen! See you won’t ever run out of topics to talk about as long as there are big dumb dummies in the hobby lol… never herd you cuss in a video before but when you seen that dragon in the background ☠️ your like WTF lol not funny about the dragon at all though I feel yuh that’s wild!
LOVE when their beards and underbellies are also red it looks so good. I see a lot of RMs with red beards; but not a lot of other reds with this trait. Do you know if underbelly and beard coloring is part of the Phase or if it's a specific gene? I dont see it having a name or being specifically bred for, but i think it should be! ((Dragon's Den Herpetoculture on Morph market has one for sale, so does House Of Dragons, and Ember’s Dragons, but i'm sure theres a ton of others) I wish more breeders would show underbelly; most listings dont show any underbelly and very little beard ((usually pictures of just the lizards back)
@nightfr09 under bellies are only as colorful as the dragon is. The more colorful a dragon, the more color on the underbelly. Translucent dragons also will tend to be more colorful since their scales are translucent.
Speaking of over and under bites, I have some pix for you 😂 it's crazy when you think how much these will sell for. I have had a few RMs, down to one now, and I can definitely confirm the health and neuro issues.
Hi QB, just want to hear your side, i have a male LB het trans het hypo pairing for a female LB Hypo Trans Is this good or not? cause i heard that LB to LB will produce silkies.. And does the grand parents genes also carry over to the next generation or only the parents genes will carry over? Thnx QB new subscriber here
@chuckpua1597 silkies are unethical so LB to LB is not a good pairing. Grand parent genetics only matter in recessive morphs. Visual morphs are set by looking at the dragons. Hets are based off the parents.
“I can buy red monsters if I wanted too” lmaooo didn’t you just purchase one??? You even stated in the video they were 50% and 75%?? I thought percentages don’t matter? VERY hypocritical. So when you plan to “breed” them I hope you don’t label it as red monster.
@StaceyKyser-z8z you must've not paid attention.. the 75% was a gift and I wasn't expecting it. The percentages don't matter, but that is how they are labeled. What am I just suppose to ignore the labeling from the breeder? I purchased the 50% rm 50% German lineage dragon, which doesn't matter, but the German reds are unreal! I also mentioned that there are only a few people that I know of that outcross correctly and the person I got the dragon from was one of them.
@@qbstailsnscales yea there are some breeders locally here who have HUNDREDS of them and are majorly bringing the price down. I love it though! My baby Trogdor is stunning.
I totally agree that this is for sure an issue and I wish breeders that do this would be more ethical. But this happens to other animals too like dogs! Not a lot of ethical breeders in that either. Wish people would do better. Greedy people man, very sad to see.
Very sad indeed. I know it happens every pet trade, but it needs to be expressed and people need to be informed that it does happen a lot with red monsters.
One point you made in the video, “if there’s a breeder you want to buy from they might not be around by the time your ready to purchase from them”, I have found myself in this situation and it royally sucks. I was planning to purchase from Brian B one day but life events got in the way of me “being ready” and now pretty much all his breeding animals have sold. He had such a big range of reptiles at BHB. I missed my change big time but now I know if I want something I just have to go for it.
@sarahjean3392 yea I was actually in a similar situation.. I wanted to come to the Reptarium but when I found the news of his illness, I really wanted to make time, and then I never did.. sadly, I never got to meet him and I've been wanting to for years.
I really enjoy when you go off on your rants, because I end up learning a lot more. You are a fountain of knowledge in your field. 😌 How’s the building coming along? Update video anytime soon?
My bearded dragon has been deformed since birth and has a very small eye. Baby still eats and moves very quickly. can she breed when she grown? Thank you
you can make vids about in delth personality types to expect and you can take that time to discuss some of your more expressive dragons personalities in detail
kinda give a spectrum of multiple personalities of beardies or other reptile personalities for people who might be trying to figure out just who their dragon might be
Dude your awake by 4am or 5am I know for a fact I’ve talked to you on a weekend that early lol! Definitely a lot of time! Although I’m not a beardie guy I’m counting on you to stay in the hobby bro! I like your do it yourself content and your Python content! I’m still finding my lane but I’m in it becuase the passion not the money so I think il be here for many more years I hope! Helps my a.d.d and is like therapy for me lol! I would love to make money eventually but for now I’m ok with learning and growing and because of your do it yourself videos it’s made it a little more affordable to me! Patreon members comes in handy when I need a little extra advice or help! Keep up the good stuff bro bro! Better not ghost us one day i know what your building looks like without a roof so il find you and knock on your door and ask where you been ;)
@qbstailsnscales They have a chart that shows the same feeding amount for babies, juveniles, and adults separated into three categories. It says babies 30 grams and under: 5-6 appropriate sized bugs no bigger than the width between their eyes fed once daily with greens daily. Juveniles 30 grams and over: 5-6 appropriate sized bugs every other day, greens daily. Adults: 5-6 appropriate sized bugs 2x per week, greens daily. This is the chart from beardie vet.
They are saying the feeding advice about 20 to 30 bugs a day is outdated and leads to obese dragons and calcium buildup, so I guess that's why he came up with the chart.
@@qbstailsnscales people can say whatever but to me it's 99% because the market is oversaturated. Bearded dragons and crested geckos are literally everywhere and they breed and lay like crazy and you can't keep the babies together long either so it's a hassle on that also. Trust me if these breeders were killing it they would not be walking away.
I get burnt out about 5 times a year. Gotta stick with it through the burn out and remind yourself that you love it and rediscover your love! Kind of like a marriage lol
I totally agree some days are awesome some are bad but I look at it as part of my life now an what would I do without them and I get attached which I gotta work on
I can tell you the problem I with your with the bearded dragon community, is Moët of them are scammer last year I tried to get a bearded dragon for a grandson that has autism and one of the places that he goes for therapy has a bearded dragon and he wanted one. I went to five different people and spent over $6500 and never was able to get one. They all scammed me I just gave up.
I recommend the gentleman you are watching. I've bought 2 reptiles from him & it's been the best experience. Unless he doesn't have what I'm looking for, I will always do business with him.
