Lovely video! I will be heading to Paris next month. I would like to go to the Hotel Cheval Blanc to try their brioche croissant. How do you book a reservation for it? Is it only breakfast or lunch? Is the brioche croissant still available?
Love, love, love this episode! As an American who has never been to Paris, I find these so helpful in dressing simple, chic, timeless and elegant. Thank you!
Apart from the first look I think they all are aging that model. Particularly the skirt look - made her look decades older. Imagine a twenty something wears that, standing next to someone in contemporary fashion. I’d feel awkward
Thank you for watching. Finding your personal style is key. We have the aesthetic we love and thus curate the wardrobe accordingly and invite the guests with the same outlook.
Take extra care wearing that long fringe skirt - these are very dangerous, especially around cars, trains, escalators/elevators and automated doors. Women have been dragged to their deaths when indulging in this fad, it’s just not worth it. (I’m a safety professional and had to give some warning).
Thank you for this superb lesson on using inspiration from beautiful paintings to create perfect seasonal outfits. Also enjoyed the drama of the Greek myth and discussion of the cycle of the seasons.
While I love the idea of this video, it’s disappointing to see such an interesting myth told completely wrong. Persephone (pronounced Purse-seph-own-knee) was kidnapped and raped by Hades, her uncle. While with him in the Underworld she ate several pomegranate seeds after being warned not to eat or drink anything. The number of seeds corresponded to the amount of time she was forced to spend with him in the Underworld and away from her mother Demeter, the goddess of agriculture. Hades is not her brother, there was no hand shake. You are correct that the sadness Demeter felt is related to winter but her pain was in defiance of Zeus, she was so besides herself with grief that she could not bring herself to make the Earth plentiful, the crops withered and died only to bloom again when she was reunited with her daughter.
I really enjoyed this video. This artistic perspective is interesting and ties nicely into the use of a mood board. It also provides a great way to find some inspiration when approaching our own closets.
The art you took inspiration from was beautiful, the outfits not that much. They were extremely boring, absolutely nothing creative or artistic about them.
agreed. the outfits are all variations of the same exact thing, in the same color pallette, and the art connection seems like a forced afterthought. all these positive comments are sending me.
Thank you, Kimberly. We absolutely fell in love with this treasure we sourced in Paris while preparing for the episode. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, we couldn't find anything exactly similar, so we listed what we could find in the spirit of short coats.
Excellent episode! I love this way of treating fashion as a part of art! Very interesting conversation about autumn, art and balanced fashion! Thank you!
