I really like the "giving back" programs that Kanile'a actively participates in, as well as this planting program that they've created. While it does help ensure future materials, it really also helps ensure that Hawaiian forests continue to prosper because of the diversity of plant being grown.
Thanks for this very informative video. This is the most comprehensive discussion of tone woods for the ukulele I've been able to find online. I'm glad I subscribe to the Kanile'a channel, because I didn't find this video via Google/Bing search. Search results gave some good options, but none as thorough as this, and always nice to hear from someone who actually designs and builds the instruments. Mahalo nui loa!!
This was a great video. It was interesting how you adjusted the nut for better playability. Just curious what would happen if there was a scratch, do you repair it? or is it sold as B stock. I love my Kanile'as!
That’s what heroes do they help the next generation my son is in a program like that at his school where he’s learning engineering in high school I could not be prouder of my son
Wow Mr Loo! A childhood memory for every east Honolulu kid growing up in the 80s and 90s! I remember pissing him off all the time because all I would do is ask for free candy every single day. If I could scrounge up .50 at the end of the school day I would buy his noodles cup with shoyu and pepper. I can still taste those noodles in my head with all that pepper! I wonder if he’s still alive or not myself.
Aloha Nalani! Love all your music and I am so happy and thrilled to see you and La Neo in Southern California this fall! Thank you for sharing this lovely tutorial!❤
Wow! What a beautiful instrument! Lanali and Na Leo love all your beautiful music! I am so excited to see you in Southern California next month! Happy 40th year! ❤

When it comes to sound recording in studios we 100% agree and that is how we record them in studio. But when someone is playing on stage for a crowd of 10,000 people singing and dancing and putting on a show… a pickup is a must. Our artists perform on massive stages and put on massive shows and using a microphone would not work at all for that setting. The sound would be quite bad.
