Love the look of this build. Ive one question tho, how important is the flatness of the terrain? The only place I could find that was close enough to my base(I play on a server where 1 base pr player) has a 4 foundation scaling difference in height (meaning the foundation went up 2 times in one place and down 2 times in another place. Almost every initial arm in the beginning of the build goes up 2 foundations out from the middle aside from 2.
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 6 месяцев назад
I know you reached out in Discord, but incase anyone else has a similar question. So long as you put your ceiling height at 3 large walls above your highest foundation (even if it's not on the outer edge), you should be fine in regards to the Rhynio not touching the walls or ceiling during the process. If you have issues with too much height difference and notice issues around the tame, you can always try building a platform at the height of your tallest foundation for where you park your tame.

Is there any smaller builds where the rhynio will still impregnante the dino while trapped ? and does this work on official
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 8 месяцев назад
I see no reason why it wouldn't work on official. As for smaller builds, I had inconsistent success with various other builds. Sometimes they would work, sometimes not. I personally haven't found a small form build that has 100% success rate in impregnation. I would be interested in one too though for sure. This simply traps them in a cage that while impregnating, they don't touch anything and thus "don't know they're trapped"

@@lohkrim So I think I have it solved. I have 2 servers, one where I test and use creative and my actual play server. I thinks it’s an issue w Admin mode when you fly up too fast on the structure and it doesn’t give the game a chance to render because of how fast you flew up on it. I have had ZERO issues on the server without creative mode. Just my theory.

How did you discover that the Rhynio would impregnate inside here? Was it just experimenting with different large builds to see which ones works the best? Or is there a mechanic that is specific to this build? Because if it's just the size of it, a WAY more efficient build can be done with stone Behemoth's as walls and Behemoth Cellar doors as ceilings. Could cut structure count down to 1/5. Not sure about material count though, as it would probably end up being around the same amount.
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 9 месяцев назад
I landed on this after a ton of testing with many different trap build designs of all shapes and sizes. The main 'mechanic' in play here is just to do the process in a 'cage' the bug cannot escape from, without it touching any structure during the process. That was the only thing I could narrow down to every other trap's inconsistencies, contact with a structure. You could definitely do behemoth gates ringed around the bottom that would save you 10 structures per gate. You would need one line of walls to connect to the upper section. If you didn't care about the aesthetic differences, you could probably fill in some of the ceiling areas with behe hatches too and save structure count there, if you wanted to use the same overall shape. I've said before as well, I'm not saying this is the only cage/trap that works or that it's the best. It's just what I found to work reliably, easy to understand for public server use, and aesthetically pleasing for how large it is. I only did a build video for this cage design specifically because it was requested from my taming video. Absolutely make things your own, improve on it, take what you like and toss what you don't. If I've helped at all, I view that as a success. I would love to see iterations or trap designs that work every time without any shenanigans.

Not bad, but pretty expensive for a solo player. As for format, the sped up build guide is better than cutting in and out of build phases, I think. (But to be fair, I'm not going to build this cage, so take other people's opinion over mine)
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 9 месяцев назад
That's perfectly fair. Also to note, it doesn't have to be built out of metal so long as you don't put it in giga or titano areas. Overall the cage is mainly designed as a way to repeat use a wild rhynio without having to retrap it or do any weird shenanigans to make it work. Certainly good for public/community use. I have my own nitrado server just for me, I like to build a lot!!, I found when I left the area and returned on a flyer the building would render in and the rhynio that was captured inside would no longer be inside but flying around outside, I’m on console on Xbox you think it might be a lag issue with console it’s happened every time I go back, oh and I’ve fully enclosed the cage as well, any ideas??
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 9 месяцев назад
Grats on the first bug. Their utility so good. I've not had that issue personally. I do play on PC though. If I were to guess, it would have something to do with rendering the bug in well before the structures. On our server, I often find bugs in the cage that someone else put there and is still inside. Sadly, I'm not familiar with differences between console and pc in terms of how the game runs and loads things. I don't know if there is anything that could be done to help with that specifically. Maybe someone else can help that's more knowledgeable in that area.

Let me know what you guys think on the format of the video. Since there is a lot of repetitive building, many clips were sped up to 600% to condense video length. Height wise, this is the lowest ceiling I found I had 100% success rate with. Width wise, there may or may not be room to bring it in a little. I based it off of the distance the rhynio goes from the tame when doing it's inject animation. That way it never touches a structure during it's process. As mentioned in the video, contact with a structure was the only thing I found in all my testing that would cause the process to be inconsistent. I tried many many versions of traps. I'm certainly not saying there is no other way to do it. Just not one that I found in my testing to be 100% reliable, which is what my goal was.

When you get the glitch where it is telling you the wrong craving you can quickly fix it by logging out and then back in. I have seen this glitch 3 or 4 times and that has always worked. Edit: Curious, have you seen a host starve to death before? We have done maybe a dozen of these now on our server and have never force fed them. The health gets down to almost zero but i have never had one starve to death.
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 9 месяцев назад
I personally haven't. When I was first learning to bug tame, it was something that was mentioned could happen if the server tick landed in a weird spot. With the amount of investment that goes into each bug attempt, I don't like to tempt fate lol. Good to know the logging out can also reset it. I assume it works like flying away to derender it.
@Psychofaith
@Psychofaith 9 месяцев назад
@@lohkrim Correct that there is a bug that can cause it to die right at the end before doing it on its own, we had it happen once in about 30 bugs done. But from my understanding force feeding berries to a herbivore doesnt effect the health. From the video the food went up but the health continued to drop per normal. I believe using a veggie cake would give you the peace of mind you want that it will not die before hand.
@lohkrim
@lohkrim 9 месяцев назад
@@Psychofaith I've not tested with a veggie cake increasing it's health. My understanding is that the incubation timer is basically a timer to when the dino will die from the incubation process draining it's health, hatching when the tame dies. When a dino is starving, it periodically takes a tick of damage from starvation, hence how tames die without food. The goal with force feeding at the very end is to ensure that the tick of damage that kills the tame and hatches the rhynio is from the incubation process itself, not a random tick of damage from starving. If you've tested the veggie cakes way and it works, that'd be good to know as another way to handle it. I'm curious if the incubation timer extends if you feed it something that increases it's health or if it just takes bigger chunks of damage to reach the same timer.
@Psychofaith
@Psychofaith 9 месяцев назад
@@lohkrim Yeah not something ive tested but would defo be interesting. From my understanding the health loss is all percent based in line with the incubation time so not sure if healing would even do anything or if the force feeding is even making a difference to reduce the chance of have the bug where it dies before hand. Not sure how that would accurately be tested.. something to ponder!

There seems to be quite a bit of interest in the trap itself. I will see about putting together a build video for it. I gave someone the foundation and wall count measurements, but I'm sure a visual version would be helpful. Without a video to show (which I might do if there's enough interest), the overall is 34 triangle ceilings/foundations from the center 6 hexagon. The open area in the center floor where the tame stands is 3 rings of foundation total empty. The shortest side to the ground depending on where you place it is 12 walls (or 3 large walls) from the foundation. I personally used one large wall worth to wall the entire bottom of the cage from the foundations because ours is in the swamp and it keeps everything but dimorphs out. From there up, the walls have a 1 wall gap, and the ceiling has a 1 row gap between each row of ceilings, with the center filled. Hope that is clear enough. Let me know if not.
