It’s a transcription. It’s meant to interpret how this individual performed it. That’s why it’s notated. Also some composers will notate vibrato anyway
I have recently been listening the the entire "Stick It" album and I just can't get enough of this ballad. Although significantly slower than most play it, the arrangement is masterfully beautiful. I would also venture to say that the shout chorus is one of the best ever done by a big band - that's right... a shout chorus in a ballad!
