I can keep in mind to make a video like that . To lead the wave you initiate the move with your weight transfer to the ground, push to the ground and also with your own body movement use the push to the ground to start the wave with your hip/ lower body you will need to bend your knees a bit . Keep a good solid frame to stabilise the follower . This is the invitation of the movement and the follower can choose to do as big or as little wave as she desire do not force her to move . Hope that helps 👍
@@ChristinaMcintoshofficial So in Kizomba only women(follower)do the movement of the wave?well I already see, some men(Leaders)do the movement of the wave too,I don´know maybe I`m wrong and only women(follower)do the movement of wave afther all
@@nunofernandes8934 both leader and follower do the wave movement . As lead you need to initiate the movement by also doing the movement so that she can follow you and she may add more decoration as I tired to explain in previous comment .
I have a question, because I'm a bit confused on the topic of kizomba fusion which, at least here in Italy, seems mostly a fusion of kizomba traditional (turns with shuffle steps, basic steps made in a more traditional way than urbankiz) and urbankiz (blocks, touch steps ...). Which is in your opinion the best styling for kizomba fusion regarding weight shifts, grounding to the floor etc.? Maybe in this case do we have to find a middle ground between these two different ways of styling?
Unfortunately your question and the answer have a lot of it depends. It depends . Mainly will depend on the type of music you’re dancing to. Is the song more flowy and groovy closer to Kizomba mayb even rnb /afro beat then your styling more likely be in your body movement Ginga more grounding and weight shift and also will depend on the style of which leader is using and what he is fusing Kizomba with. Most people fuse Kizomba with urban kiz but now there is also a lot of fusion of salsa/bachata/brazilian zouk in urban kiz the styling may then lend it self to more arm movement , body rolls and footwork although styling of footwork can also be used in Kizomba but will have a different look and feel than that of urban kiz
Also to remember what ever styling you are using it is styling and should not interrupt your ability to follow or disturb the lead . Styling is addition to the dance so you can express also and show your interpretation to the music but your fundamentals need to be solid before adding styling Grounding and weight shift in Kizomba dance is fundamentals you need to know well before you can play around with it in a way that it does not affect negatively the lead or follow technique
Exactly correct that is what happens . Having some weight on the ball of the foot will enable you to execute whatever the next step is more effectively as you are able to push better from the ball of the foot rather than with a flat foot
I am 1 month old in learning balance. I am still a beginner in learning that move but what I see you doing is super super super super advanced. What I have been taught I thought it was advanced but I am humbled by what I am seeing on this video.
Your Ginga is awesome. I am still learning Ginga. I am 1 month old in learning Ginga and can happily say I have improved. But I think 1 year from now, my waist will be naturally moving in a Ginga format like yours in the video.
Interesting tips for followers. I didn't know followers go through a lot during coupling. I thought it was only leads that go through a lot during coupling.
You chose a swahili song. That's awesome. I see you aren't wearing high heels while teaching. That's good. I can finally see the shifting of weights when not wearing high heels.
Thanks for your explanation. I think it'll help me as I soon will join a beginner class. Both the music and the body motion in traditional bachata is different from modern and sensual bachata. Although you can "crossdance" it doesn't feel right. Is there such a difference in kizomba and urban kiz music? Or is just a matter of personal preferences?
Yes there is often major difference in Kizomba music and the music they dance on in urban kiz . And you will look out of place and can sometimes even offend others by dancing Kizomba on urban kiz music and vice versa. There are some music you can dance both Kizomba and urban kiz this is usually ghetto zouk and some Afro beat songs . As you go on your journey I’m sure you’ll will discover this more . Thank you for your comment as it has given me a thought to perhaps make a video on this .
Back again !!! I just managed to get to a kiz class last night I incorporated these tips and got some lovely compliments thanks so much I’m so glad I discovered your channel you deserve far more subscribers!! Xx
Thanks for your kind words . I’m glad you found the techniques in the video useful and putting them in practice. Don’t forget to share the vid so that others may stumble on the gem also 👍
Hi, I'm confused about the weight change: do I have to think of actively changing my weight, or do I have to think more of straightening the knee and then settling into the hip, while simply allowing the weight to change? Thank you
Hi you should think about changing you weight and being ground for complete transfer of weight. You knee straightening or bending will happen automatically and naturally because you have changed your weight
