Waste of money. Not going to deflate a Good tire or even Beat a Good rim with any kind of mallet or rubber Hammer. If it was made on the Car fine but, it’s not y’all Chasing money that’s All I see .

This person doesn't understand how often mechanics have to pound wheels off of the hubs because they are seized due to corrosion or just plain neglect. I had to pry my son's winter rims off of his Subaru to do his brakes. The rims were powder coated and one of the rims was a little thick to easily fit the wheel center hub. I have heard people complain about the car needing a wheel alignment when putting the rim protectors on with the mallet. These RU-vid experts don't understand the amount of lateral stress that the suspension components and wheels are designed to handle. The proper tools such as a rubber mallet or in my case a wooden 2 x 4 will cause no harm to the rim.
These are great and superior to the DIY "glue on" versions sold on Amazon and elsewhere. I would say these require a moderate amount of skill to install, assuming you have access to a lift. It is critical you follow the directions and tapping schedules precisely. I would budget a bit more than and hour for most people who will only do this once.
Say you want to remove AlloyGators after some time, does it affect the look of the tires? E.g. does it create a space between where they sit and the rim and tire? I'm asking as I'd like to sell my car after a while and not need to worry about creating a gap between the rim and tire due to the AlloyGators

@@welshpoolreg1 It's important to keep machine polished wheels clean, with or without AlloyGators as, as you say, grit from the road will over time, cause corrosion. Machine polished wheels when they sustain damage can only be repaired a couple of times before they are scrap - installing AlloyGators won't prevent corrosion but it will help prevent costly repairs and replacements!

Also depends on the vehicle. I have 21in wheels on a Tesla and it is insanely easy to get curb rash. We're talking small lips in the road almost doing me in. These types of devices save me time and having to worry about little things like small potholes etc.
