Finally I have understood candidate keys - thank you so much. I am up at midnight trying to write my assignment and struggling with these keys! What's more , the slow paced delivery is perfect.
Why Sullivan doesn't have more subscribers is a complete mystery (age of videos, maybe?) But even if the age of the video is an issue, his teaching method is excellent: Explain syntax, show examples and exceptions, show results. Now I know where I started, where I'm going, and when I've arrived. Just discussing syntax without showing how it works would be useless (and too often used in other channels).
First I've seen that recommends starting with the FROM clause; makes sense because it makes you confirm the columns you want in SELECT are actually in the table names.
I wish I'd found Dave Sullivan way before this. His explanations are so easy to understand. He introduces definitions gradually and provides examples. If you're not subscribed, you're missing out.
Dave Sullivan's video deserve WAY more than the 4.5 views for this one. He explains concepts slowly (but not tediously) and is very easy to understand. He's giving me some great tips for presenting the information to my CS students, many of whom are ESL Thanks, Dave!
This is the first explanation of joins that actually makes sense to me, probably because he walks us through step by step, showing us what the results are for each step. Just showing a query isn't useful to me; I want to know where I'll end up so I can confirm my understanding. Ease of explanation and results makes me a new subscriber! Thanks, Dave!
Thank you so much for this explanation! I was very confused about the difference between Candidate Keys and Primary keys. I understand that it goes a little deeper than this video but I was confused about the basic definition and explanation of the terms. Everything else I've seen went way deep into them without explaining the basic terminology.
