To tell the truth, Crowley never had anyone to love him, starting with the horrible mother he had, and when he met the Winchesters he discovered that despite everything, Dean was a kind of soul mate for him. He doesn't love him in the same sense as Castiel, who confessed it to him before the Void took him away, what Crowley felt for Dean is an affection based on friendship and complicity. That's why he helped them so many times and they never thanked him and yet he ended up sacrificing himself so they could close the gap and Lucifer would be trapped in the apocalyptic world. That's why I love that character, for me he is the best of all and Mark Sheppard is wonderful as an actor, giving his personality to the King of Hell.
