Yeah I loved the show as a kid I went to see the film in a cinema and I had it on VHS. I remember seeing it advertised on bus stops. I don't remember seeing that think advert but I remember others on TV. 3.28 Star Trek movies used to do that they would advertise a new movie & have a lot of Music and clips from previous films.
It's an okay movie, though I do think watching the series adds a lot more to it. Most of the dilemma's TJ and the gang usually faced were usually pretty common for school kids albiet heavily exaggerated from their perspective. Whereas this movie is them literally going against an ex principal turned supervillian, whilst partnering up with the principal who they "thought" was their worst enemy. I may be overanalysing, but I see Benedict is a literal personification of how the kid's saw Prickly, except in this case he's much much worse. I just thought that was interesting.
I remember seeing this at the Odeon when it just came out. I didn't even know they made a film version until Blue Peter showed a clip of it. Being a fan of the show, it was really good to see. Though it was released during a strange period as i started high school a couple weeks later, then 9/11 happened soon after. It was like the 90s era coming to an end.
To be fair Tom & Jerry kind of had to be able to speak in this movie. It'd be very odd to have a movie where none of the characters can talk. I think it could've worked as the duo had plenty of specials but it's not a bad movie
I actually really like the contrast in this movie's tones. All of the sweeter and softer scenes occur when The Girls are allowed to be girls, and fully vulnerable with The Professor or "Jojo". When it came to the world around them it was all sorts of clear that this city was kinda a cesspool from Frame 1, and having that dour setting be where these girls thrive to clean it up by the end is actually a very uplifting and reasonable message when essentially all they needed was both love to thrive and the ability to use their gifts that they were born with.
Fun fact in the japanese original of instead of having a very 2000 rock soundtrack instead its has a fully orchestrated soundtrack! for a show about spinning tops! Here is a sample of one of the songs that played in the japanese version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xIy1kNjdvVw.htmlsi=3V13xDVMomA8Vya1
I Think not Recess Schools Out was Awesome in that Era But frustrated Recess wasn’t granted sequels and other Past Disney movies that hasn’t received any sequels Hercules Treasure Planet Sky High Robin Hood Sleeping Beauty Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Big Hero 6 And others
@@supermariof0521It wasn't long enough plus it was more of a tv movie just like the ed edd eddy movie, the PPG movie did sadly poorly at the box office.
It was great as a kid, but it wasn't great for the guardians as I know my parents and grandparents dreaded having to sit through "a 1.5 hour episode of that stupid cartoon I watched all the time." Perfect for fans, but left nothing for non fans.
Lightyear should've been an adaptation of this cartoon, not that forgettable woke garbage. Seriously, *STOP* shoving woke propaganda down our throats. We're *SICK* of it.
This movie feels like Tom & Jerry walked into a Don Bluth movie, like All Dogs Go To Heaven. The tonal shift can give you whiplash. It's really like they're in a different movie.
As a kid I actually loved this movie lol. I used to play it over and over again on vhs. I would even act out some of the scenes. So much of this movie is ingrained in my head now that everytime you play a scene I'm like yep I remember that perfectly.
I don't know why everyone goes crazy when someone doesn't talk for a while. Mario was never a silent protagonist, he talked like nobody's business, he was a referee, announcing and counting in the ring, he wah and yahooed all over the place, he thanked you for playing his game. Except in Paper Mario, _specifically._ After _Paper Mario_ came out, everyone started to get weird, saying they could never make a Mario cartoon or movie, because it would be to strange to hear Mario talking in full sentences. Then similar things with Link, Tom, and Jerry, characters who can all scream, and have said words, so it's implied that they _can_ talk, they just _don't._ I was so happy that this movie was finally giving them _canon_ voices, so if it wasn't a "joke" each time, they wouldn't be completely different, and we'd finally get some consistency... but that was apparently too much to ask for. Then there's Wile Ethelbert Coyote. In Bugs Bunny cartoons, Wile E. talks in full sentences, using elevated diction, and nobody seems to care at all. I'm not sure why? Is it because it's only _half_ of a previously silent duo? Because the Road Runner has spoken English in comic books, does that complete... _something_ and make it blasphemous?

11:42 Fun fact, in the Finnish dub of both movies Aunt Figg and Ursula share the same voice actor. Perfect casting ^^
I was trying to forget that this ad exists but then this video happened… but I think the people watching the commercial are the kids inside the commercial, the reason they were turned into 3D monster is because of the beating each other up in the commercial inside the commercial
This film could have been good if it just had the guts to. At least the 2021 film despite it's flaws almost gave us a superior and faithful adaptation of Tom and Jerry
