You are making me SO excited to get back to Stormlight as well!! And yeeees, Dawnshard supremacy>>> Also please do yourself a favour and make The Paper Menagerie a priority, you are missing out!! 🥲 What Moves the Dead is the perfect Kingfisher for spooky season, and I think you could even slam the 2nd one right after it as well ;) Beyond excited for all the upcoming channel content, be it just your solo videos or the Page Chewing. Happy reading 🥰
It sounds like you really want to be reading the Stormlight Archive and I think you should follow your bliss 😌 I picked up Sons of Darkness mostly as a cover buy 🤭 so I’ll be interested to hear more opinions on it. And yay more T. Kingfisher! I haven’t read those novellas yet but I’ll get to them eventually. Looking forward to your Worldcon vlog!!! Sorry it’s been such a pain, I’ve totally been there when everything about a video seems to go wrong 😵💫 you’re a stronger woman than me for pushing through. Really enjoying reading outside of SFF at the moment ✌️For the first time in a long time I’m letting myself read wherever I want and it feels awesome
The Paper Menagerie!!!! ❤❤❤ I can’t tell you how much I’d love to hear your thoughts. It’s SO GOOD! I read it over the summer with some friends: 1-2 stories per week, and I adored the collection. I think you would love the cultural intersections presented in light-sci-fi, magical realism, speculative fiction stories. Some stories are very emotional, so be prepared! Happy Autumn reading! 🍂🍁
It’s Rysn’s story and part of it is on a ship so I ate that upppp. It’s a quick read either way so it might be a good choice to try it :) Me too!! I get 5 star vibes but I have no solid evidence as to why that is 😂 You haven’t read it yet have you? Ohhh yesss!! Maybe we could have a little chatty chat after too 👀
You’re doing a proper SA reread! Novellas and all! You know, I haven’t read Dawnshard!!! I’ll have to change that! Don’t worry about Best Served Cold. SA reread takes top priority 🙌🏻 I totally sympathize with your technological issues. I’m sure the final video will be awesome and worth the headache.
I meannnnn in theory 😂 But no I really do hope to treat myself to the full immersion.... have a few other things to take care of first but I feel the desire to dive in so badly. OMG read dawnshard plzzzzzz. Knowing how much you vibe with ships and the sea??? You will adore it. Ugh I truly hope so! This coming weekend is the final editing push 😤
The trend I'm noticing in my reading isn't any particular genre but just MORE. More books than other years! More time with a book in my hands! More audio! It feels like coming home to a comfortable place and I'm so relieved my reading brain is back!
Yay for The Winnowing Flames love. I read the series when Elliot Brooks first mentioned The Ninth Rain a few years ago. It was such a fun and unique ride.
A wonderful chat, as always! Especially loved the little bit on special editions, I am still on team P.L. holding out strong against the temptation... but it's hard sometimes hahaha. Also, I loved Andrew's Uzumaki video, that was a wild experience in itself lol. Thanks for the fun! :)))
Ahaha you have a will of absolute STEEL to hold out this long 🙇♀️ I went to watch that vidoe after this and I LOVED it. The subtle details, the full integrated experience...I feel inspired to up my own game now. Truly.
Oh, poor baby. It is so hard when they are sick & extremely scary when it involves their breathing! I hope everyone is on the mend. I appreciate the PSA, as I have fallen over a month behind in the content I wanted to have put out & it feels like there is just no way to catch up!
Right?! An experiecnce I'll never forgetf or sure. Thankfully we're all doing great now 💕 Ugh...I understand the pressure and stress you must feel. But it's okay to have a life offline. And those who watch you probbly love you all the more for it :)
Of course!! You have been so gracious and understand ing through this whole process...it's me who should be thanking you 💕 It warmed my heart to talk to another person who was touched by this series to the degree I was. Your taste is truly elite 🤌
Once the words left my mouth I really had to take a hard look at myself 😂😭🫠 Yesss!! They have some really good stuff there. Do you, by chance, have a favorite Jump character? 👀
@@MaedBetweenthePages I always love the idea of puzzles but thinking about my adorable furry nightmares stealing and chewing pieces quickly destroys that thought 💀🤣 and probably my favorite is still YuGiOh, even all these years later 💀👵🏻 the dark magician specifically, even when I played the card game as a kid I always had to have one in my deck. 💀🤣 what about you?
Great to see you back, Taylor! I really really need to read Ken Liu - all of his work, but his short stories especially it seems I've also picked up The Ninth Rain on your recommendation, can't wait for it!
@@ZOMGfantasy thank you! 🥹✨ Yes!! Do it!! I think his short fiction would be a great place to start. Then if you love his style you can take on The Dandelion Dynasty 🙌🏼 This makes me so happy to hear!! I hope you end up loving it 🥰
Time is a construct, it's never too late to talk about books 🤣 SO happy you are on the Kingfisher hype train now, let me know if you need recs for where to go next!! And ugh yes, Ken Liu just never misses 🥺😍 Also, fellow Jezal lover over here, his tragic journey is the highlight of that series for me hahaha. My favourite book of the year was Hell for Hire by Rachel Aaron, but then this month I read Asunder by Kerstin Hall and that dethroned it! Hope you have a wonderful end of the year with lots of great reads 🥰
@@esmayrosalyne this is the energy I need in my comment section 😂💕 time is a construct babyyyyy ✨ Oh I’m fully on the hype!! I bought What Moves the Dead at worldcon, but if you have a different rec I’m all ears 👀👀👀 It’s insane how much talent Liu has 😮💨 No way really?? Why am I not surprised hahaha Jezal was the last character I expected to care about. A true testament to Abercrombie’s craft. Ohhh?! I haven’t read either of those but best believe they’re on my radar now!! 👀✨
@@MaedBetweenthePages What Moves the Dead is a great next place, especially with spooky season coming up. I also highly recommend The World of the White Rat books, which start with The Clocktauer duology, then Swordheart and then the Saint of Steel series. Those are more fantasy romcoms with older protagonists (except for the first duology) and it is SO FUN!!
I’m still on the hunt for a series that gives me all the feels and is as unique as Winnowing Flame was. Two year later…nada 😭 You should pick up Best Served Cold * nudge, nudge, wink, wink * 😆😉
My favorite T. Kingfisher that I have read so far is easily A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking. I think that T. Kingfisher shines in YA/middle grade stories ☺ Also, as someone who also adores Howl's Moving Castle (both the book and the movie), I'd say to maybe not get too hyped up for the sequels 😅While book 3 is cute, albeit nothing special imo, book 2 has some uncomfortable and possibly problematic content. I'm not sure that the portrayal of the middle eastern-like culture was done with enough tact, imo 🥲 On a happier note, the best books I have read so far this year are 1. Rook & Rose trilogy by M.A. Carrick (I have absolutely fallen in love with these characters and world 🥺I'm currently reading book 3) 2. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a masterful character exploration that I highly enjoyed (both the book and the movie) 3. The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo - I picked the audiobook on a whim early this year and was completely charmed by it. And I say that as someone who has no prior knowledge of The Great Gatsby whatsoever.
I've never heard of that one, but it sounds so cute! Running to look that up 👀 Oh noooooo 😭 Thank you for the heads up! I'll go in with tempered expectations. Ohhhh Rook and Rose! I love the Memoirs of Lady Trent series and that auhtor is half of M.A. Carrick so I've been eyeing it up for a while now...I've heard the worldbuilding is amazing!
Love the vlogs you post 🇯🇵📚 I’m hoping to get over to Japan one day, it’s at the top of my travel list 🛩️ The soundtrack on the Vlogs is great as well 👌🏻🎵 I was at work over WorldCon but it would have been good to get up to Glasgow for it as I’m not too far away in the UK, I’ll look out for your vlog on that. I’m sure your community understands that things happen in life and the videos will get here when they’re ready
Thank you!! :) That means a lot to hear. I hope you can make it over here eventually! It's definitely a great place to travel✨ I'm very lucky to have such an understanding community 🥹The feedback has been almost 100% positive when I ask to push videos back/ change schedules. I'm sorry you couldn't make ti to WorldCon, but yes! Look for he vlog sometime next week! 🥰
I’ve come to terms with losing/leaving my job and embracing something new. Obviously nervous but also excited. I’m pretty indecisive so it feels good to make a decision, takes some of the anxiety away.
First of all, I am so glad Sumire's health scare turned out to be nothing too extreme, even if it was horrible to see her suffer like that. Sending all the hugs and healthy vibes your way!! 💕 Also, YAY for another Pretzel cameo, I hope he is thriving 🤩 The amount of delectable food clips in this vlog is honestly criminal... I need technology to hurry up and make it so that I can smell and taste it all through the screen hahahah. And I just saw your review for Steamborn go up on BWGB, it sounds like a really cool world!! Hope SPFBOX brings you a real gem soon ;) Happy reading, love 🥰🥰
Thank you! 🥹💕 I learned new definition of fear that day. We're all healthy now though thank god. Oh he is the happiest boy. Has a double-decker house...living in luxury💁♀️ Ahaha I hadn't realized how many I'd gathered until I started editing and I was like 'oh! This is basically all food' 😂 Yes it's live!! One of the few contributions I've been able to make to the team this time around 😭 As I'm tackling out semis next, I have high hopes 👀 You too my love! 🥰💕✨
@@MaedBetweenthePages Don't mind me being slightly jealous of Pretzel's luxury life hahahah, little diva 🤣 Excited for the semifinalist round, your team seems to have some real intriguing ones!
Yes!!! Tell em'! Thank you! 💕 It did! Ya girl is now doubly employed 💁♀️ Ugh it was rough for a minute there😭 But thankfully we're out the other side now ✨
Sorry to hear it’s been a bit of a time recently! I’m glad everyone seems to be on the mend ❤️🩹 Wonderful vlog as always! I am so with you on the “wait … why do we do this” moments re the puzzle room 😅
We finally are 💕Thank you Kris 🥹 Right?! Once you have those realizations it's like "wait how long was I doing this again...?" What was one of those moments for you?
@@MaedBetweenthePages the most recent one was where we put the bloomin air fryer … we had to move it every time we want to use that section of the kitchen. There is a WHOLE other section of the kitchen where that wouldn’t be a problem 🙃🙃
Sorry this has been such a chaotic time for you and your family! I hope everyone is feeling better ❤️ you gotta take care of yourself- reading and content creation can definitely wait. I love a good Pretzel cameo 🥰 such a pretty lady 🐍 I have also really gotten into Olivia’s vlogs! (And reading vlogs in general) I love putting them on when I’m cleaning or cooking. And I really appreciate her mini therapy sessions 😂 My weekly win has been the realization that my current reading slump is not really a reading slump at all but rather a fantasy slump. I’ve boxed myself in too much over the years and I’ve been craving some other genres lately 👀 I think I’ll be giving some other things a try soon
We finally are 💕Thank you 🥹 He's such a spotlight stealer...cute that he is😂🐍 Yessss she's so good at talking about mental health in a relatable way! I agree vlogs are the best for background watching. Ohhh I'm so glad you came to that realization! I'm excited to see what you decide to drift towards in the near future 👀
Excuse me but HOW has the algorithm kept his channel hidden from me all this time?! Only just started watching his videos after seeing the announcement of this page chewing episode and immediately fell in love with the vibe. Seeing someone really unapologetically fall in love with all kinds of stories is so exciting, his videos make me remember why I loved reading in the first place. Also, Taylor please do yourself a favour and read Tia Williams!!! She has written two of my favourite books ever, and I just know you will love them as well. Anyway, thanks for sharing the fun 🤩🤩
Oh this made me so damn happy. if we've conncted you two wonderful souls through this series, then we've done our job 🥰💕 If you recommend something that strongly you BET imma pick it up. Added to the TBR ✨
Ronnie has to be one of the most fascinating and genuine people out here in this book space, I love listening to him ramble on about all his passions. The fact that I haven't read The First Binding yet pains me deeply, it sounds so so so good... like one of those books that makes you remember why you fell in love with reading in the first place. Thanks for this amazing interview 🤩
You can really hear his passion coming through with everything he talks about. Truly inspiring. And I agree!! If that passion comes through in the writing (which I have no doubt it does) then how can you not be swept up with it? 🤩✨
Love the seasonal tbr plan. In my head, it sounds amazing. I haven't really had a tbr in a long while. I've been mood reading the past couple of years, and I have priority books for the year, series to wrap-up, and authors I'd like to try. It's working much better for me and stress free. 📖😎📚
Thank you!✨ It sounds like you’ve found a system that works perfectly for you. I find it’s much more detrimental to deny yourself mood reading when you’re in that phase because then you’re just reading what feels like placeholder books constantly… We should enjoy this hobby! 🥰
The honor is all ours!! I truly feel like we could have talked for another hour no problem 😂 Truly enjoyed hearing your takes on the bookish community and would love to have you on for a part 2 at some point 🥰✨
Can't say I am suprised about this restructuring haha, it sounds like a much more manageable gameplan ;) So curious to hear your thoughts on Locklands, I have let way too much time pass since reading book 2 so I feel like I might have to reread lol.... unless you say the finale is not worth it, then that's off the plans 🤣 Also, The Wager has been on my radar ever since Merphy gushed about it, but I keep not prioritising it oops. Hope you enjoy!! Happy reading 🥰
Yeah I think if you’re around the channel enough you could have seen this coming 😉 I feel you on the Founders trilogy re-read….i remember the main plot beats but idk if that will be enough for this series….I may have to do a little Google and see if anyone out there has done the lord’s work and made a re-cap video…. So many people have said The Wager was something they were interested in in these comments!! I had no idea it was so popular… I’ll tell you if it’s worth the hype 😂💕
@@MaedBetweenthePages yeah exactly!! Because as much as I wouldn’t mind a movie length Taylor video, I feel like between the algorithm torturing you for it and it feeling like torture to film, probably not the best idea 😂😂😂
I’ve just picked up The Wager too! Hit me up if you feel like a chaotic buddy read with zero commitment when the loan comes in! Here for the more relaxed yet still somewhat planned MBR cause .. same.
I will!! It probably won’t be for another week or two but I’ll message you when it does 🥰 Ahaha so glad we’re on the same wavelength…life just be lifing right now and I can’t have super strict commitments 😭
