Hey I'm Digihill and welcome to my Random Pics N' Vids channel. I've dabbled in nearly everything media wise; but picture and video has always been my favourite! I love random snapshots of life, streets, old buildings etc, nothing too artistic, but those old random pictures we have hidden away on old phones etc. I mostly published based on where I live in South Wales, but I also post media based on places I have visited and worked. I guess I'm more journalistic than anything? I like to document the changing landscape of where I live, like demolitions etc, but I've dabbled in time-lapse, tutorials and picture slideshows!
I hope you enjoy my catalog of random media from the last decade or so!
THE worst atrocity that NPTCBC ever did was to demolish Beach Hill ... just think of the millions of people who walked over there to go to the beach in the decades gone by ... what's there now is a complete eyesore
I was there the day it opened can still smell the newness or it all and dancing with Carol J in the Great Hall. Brilliant school .What a loss. Thanks for the memories.
Its nice to see the old place again, but having now lived in Australia for over 40 years I am struck by the almost complete absence of trees or even tall shrubs in Sandfields, despite our low rainfall, even council housing has a tree planted on the nature reserve, it would appear that the local council either won't allow it, or enterprising vandals remove them as soon as they are planted. 😞
When I was a young boy, there was no Afon Way. No Baglan Industrial Park. No M4. Between the estate and the A 48 was what we called The Pills. Trees shrubs, slow moving waterways. Birds. Fish. Hares. Voles. Eels. Huge sand dunes and fresh water shallow lakes. What a crying shame, all now buried under furnace slag.
Nice to reminisce. Lived in Port Talbot all my life, and no matter what year you take a photo it always looks the same. My house is in one of the photos as well. A bit off-topic. Where does the music come from?
Jersey Beach hotel, my aunt got married there. Afan Lido, I remember it well. It had very high diving boards! I think it burned down back in the noughties
My Grandparents and Great Uncle (who wrote for the local newspaper and published a book about the place) lived in Sandfields. My Mum and her siblings grew up there. We visited many times and Aberavon beach has a special place in my memories.
1 of the most nostalgic vid's seen about PT (sorry NPT 😞). Poverty struck the place though! No wonder among areas of 'worst deprivation in UK'! Ah well, my Grandpa slaved away in them Steelworks (RIP). Nice1 all/Up'loader.✌
Lived in Old Rd Baglan after being born in Neath General Hospital.Looked out on most of those views from home.My father worked in the Whitford Works which was absorbed by British Steel.Lovely calming video.
Came across this by page by chance. These photos have brought back so many wonderful memories of my childhood and growing up in Port Talbot 🙂. seeing my family home and the gentleman I called uncle Viv standing on his front garden in St Helier drive, both Viv and his wife Lil were very much a big part of my life back then, such wonderful neighbours.
