First time in your chanel, and by the way your video was shared to me by my eldest son and hey what a great interview with this beautiful and intelligent lady! Her story resonates with me, as I'm the Mining Engineer myself and running my own Mining Technical Services company. She's so right about everything she said. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint hearted indeed. Subscribed to your chanel my sister and keep doing what you do best I really enjoyed your video.
"It's not just the responsibility of women. Men need to be our allies" Again, I have enjoyed this conversation. I have a lot to say and wish we can have this conversation continously. Organizations such as WIMSA are important, Looking forward to next Wednesday❤
Losing your job is a part & parcel of "employment ", we don't ever expect or forsee it because, I mean, you always plan and hope for the best with your life, as a result we don't ever plan adequately for times like these. We do, however, need to come to the playing table and start planning for this like we do retirement... George has been so forthcoming and vulnerable on this interview. It reminded me of the human factor we all possess but hide from time to time when something of this nature happens. I have suffered a similar fate recently, and your financial stability, your livelihood, and the quality of life you provide for yourself and your family is threatened. (I do need to add that the lives and employment for domestic workers are grossly affected by this as well. It is a terrible domino effect) I hope something suffices for George soon, and I truly appreciate him sharing his story with us. Retrenchments and job losses in the mining industry are on the rise and this interview is a reminder that it's not a "you" thing, it's not a competency problem, the economy is what is wrong. Thank you for this, I look forward to Wednesdays.
@@GuguladiM Well said Gugu..We really do this thing of hoping for the best, and i think we just have to do better on this!! Financial planning is now a 'must', and multiple streams of income are the way to go! Thanks for watching and or the feedback 🙏
Beautiful conversation Hlogi and George. This has just reminded me to be grateful for employment. Wishing you all the best George in job seeking. Surely something will come up for you soon. God bless!!!
Oh, how I wish there was a part two to this...🤪👀👀👀 There's a lot ntate Kofi has to say, and we are here with our listening ears. I wish this was longer. I enjoyed this interview thoroughly.
Hi Mahlogonolo, thank you so much for these interviews they are inspiring. I'm in the mining industry, in the Finance space, is it possible to also bring guests in different spaces ( example : Finances, supply chain, marketing)to your show? . I want to become a leader one day in Finance and add value in the mining industry it would be great to learn from people who have been there before us. Thank you ❤
@@nomfundopatience5507 Hi Nomfundo. Glad you are finding value in the conversations! Thanks for watching.. Absolutely, we will be covering wide rage of fields within the mining industry. So do stay tuned!
My appreciation for this channel grows every week because we (I) get introduced to new key role players in the mining industry outside of the ones we(I) already know. I appreciate that we are introduced to other/supporting careers in the mining industry that are not "mining engineering" or "mine specific" careers. The topic at hand is an important one that needs to be heard and had regularly because we seldom take control of our careers, we allow our careers to lead us. I have enjoyed this ❤
@@GuguladiM Hey Gugu You are not the only one..Had technical glitches but we are working towards getting them fixed! But hey, we fail forward! Thanks for the feedback, we commit to getting these sorted🙏
Yoh the issue of illegal mining is scary and Akhona has brought so much to light for those of us who don't work in gold mining. It's almost like they are in some kind of Mafia. They have guns! This is hectic yoh.
Such a breath of fresh air. Nozipho's positive attitude and energy is so contagious. Leadership is intentional and you make time and most importantly you use all resources available to you.
Such an insightful discussion. I left mining industry before even beginning due to lack of opportunities as a geologist 12 years ago and joined oil and gas industry. Key take away for me from the discussion is the importance of succession planning and the importance of keeping the lights on for the mining industry for the benefits of our country and future grandchildren. I love the pairing of graduates with the "matured" mentors , great way for hands on skills transfer. Illegal mining! I learned a lot on this topic that's for sure.
Glad you enjoyed it B. Hope we get you back in industry hle bathong!! Succession planning is an intentional act, and once we overlook it, we are gone!! Thanks for watching
