I LOVED every messy, complicated, toxic, co-dependent minute of this movie! Nothing cookie cutter about it. The cinematography - excellent. The time jumps go back and forth (like a tennis match). IMO, the music was used to make you feel the emotions of the characters versus the actual spoken words. The ending with Tashi yelling 'come on' and smiling was chef's kiss. Tas0hi had said she just wanted to watch some good f***ing tennis, and the boys are back together. Best film I've seen in the last few years! 10/10
Alien : Covenant DID a swerve ending guys .. remember ?!? DANIELS gets woken up by Mother that there is something on board ... and it's the protomorph .. does the shower kill scene and they pulverize it with the dump truck ... What you guys should talk about which has been making the rounds is , when bishop tells ripley in alien 3 , that the egg was with us all the way ... did he mean since the space station departure ?? It's wild what people are tying that into romulus
Why would another Norris breakout of his body? I think Norris was slowly taken over and just about done but when Norris got hit with the jumper cables the Thing had to bust out of his body a tad early.
Great episode! I've loved Fight Club since it came out. My favorite Fincher movie, favorite Brad Pitt performance, and favorite Ed Norton performance. A truly unique and amazing movie. Interesting tidbit - on the DVD commentary, Ed Norton says he tried to convince Fincher to use Radiohead's "OK Computer" for all of the movie's music - like Simon & Garfunkel's songs in The Graduate. Fincher decided to go with the Dust Brothers instead. IMO, the existing music is good, but I agree with Norton - OK Computer soundtrack may have made the movie even more epic. I love that album and can totally see it woven into the scenes of Fight Club. Missed opportunity for additional greatness...
I disagree with the statement that Starling knows when to use her femininity to get her way (as in the case of Dr. Chilton). I see it more as a learned behavior used to bypass the potential of male aggression or dismissiveness after rejection, which is often punitive, to regain a sense of power. Which would have ended her efforts to fulfill her assignment and any hope she had for career advancement.
Such an interesting list! As someone from east Asia, this is such an English centered and animation free list that views cinema as a medium just for entertainment. And you can safely say some movies made to the list are not because they are good but for the sake of political correctness. They are actually pretty great though, just seem odd to appear in the list. LOL
I did like new things just oh no aliens attack and do battle and many die etc. etc. Having a human made android going psychopathic making inferior versions of the Engineers' failure was simply brilliant in its own failure of human tech compounding the errors made by the Engineers who had to create a hunter-killer species to get rid of their error they had unknowingly spread to colonies. Given a need to hunt especially for the black strain of Xenomorph and failed for the same reasons. Now they breed them to hunt them. The Engineers spent decades perfecting their remedy no mistakes this time to eradicate both Xenomorphs and Predators. If you get out of the way the brown Xenos won't bother you.
Finally caught up and saw this film and episode, been so busy with the newborn, but So many great takes in this episode, love Luca G and Challengers as a whole. I have a few differing thoughts on the film than you guys being a tennis fan and player but I think both of you are both right on some of your differing opinions on what was going on with the characters and tennis throughout the film. I do unfortunately have to UNSUBSCRIBE due to y’all saying it was TGI Fridays rather than Applebees in the movie! Eating good in the neighborhood! 😂
Re Zuckerberg, he might have achieved an unprecedented amount of wealth and exclusivity, but just like the ending of the movie, he's just a nerd with zero social skills , and not merely hated by the few he fucked over on the way to the top, he's hated by millions (just like Bill Gates).
Well, another reason why The Thing (and Blade Runner) both failed financially is because at the time, everybody was experiencing a recession and they didn’t want “nihilistic” movies to remind them of that. E.T. was full of joy and they stuck with it. Great job covering one of the greats in the horror genre 😊😊
I think it’s clear that Alien Covenant was not the film Ridley wanted to do. We never saw his Paradise, nor did we get to see Elizabeth Shaw’s true destiny.
According to newly released rumours, the story starts with a spaceship discovering the remains of the first xenomorph from the alien movie. They bring it to the nearest spacestation and extract it for eggs which creates the facehuggers. Then the whole spacestation gets infected and all the humans dies, and leaves a big xenomorph hive behind. When contact is lost with the other spacestations.A spaceship is sendt to investigate. Then a battle breaks out,and only one off the investigators manage to escape. Or did she? In the end we see that she also is infected and she sets the escapepod to self construct, but before that happens, the escape pod lands on a unknown planet with small humanlike beings, but with blue skin. And that makes a cliffhanger for a follow-up movie ?
My idea for an alien tv-series is as follows: It takes places just before the events in the first alien movie and happens on a planet near where the nostromo spaceship is shipping ore.Weyland-Yutani is on the planet and have terraformed it for years, when they discovers a cave with lots of xenomorph eggs. One of them get's infected and a xenomorph is born. It turns out to be a queen, and a lot of the Weyland-Yutani humans are infected and then a war breaks out.All the humans on the planet are wiped out and only a few manage to escape in a spaceship. Then they nuke the planet from orbit. Then Weyland-Yutani regrets the decision and a hunt for the xenomorph begins. They get a tip that there's a crashed spaceship on lv426 and sends the robot Ash on the Nostromo spaceship. But they are informed that the mission has failed and that Nostromo has gone missing. Then Weyland-Yutani get's a tip about an xenomorph on Fiorina161 and sends a team of researchers there. They finds a surviving prisoner that is impreagnated and a queen is born. Weyland-Yutani then wants to use the xenomorphs on the planets where the engineers are located because they want the technology to seed planets with life. They also want the elixir that provides humans with prolongued life. After they have managed to give birth to a flock of xenomorphs, they drops them on an engineer planet and causes everyone of them to die. Then they get hold of the blue elixir that gives prolongued life. But several ships with engineers that where away from their planet when Weyland-Yutani wiped the population out, pursue them and manages to get the elixir back, but gets trapped on the planet where both parties crash. Then a battle takes place and the crew from Weyland-Yutani gets the elixir that gives them prolongued life for thousands of years, but they are now trapped on the planet, with no means to get anywhere. But then they see a light aproaching, but is the spaceship friends or foes ?
Me personally I was cautiously optimistic and hopeful that this film would be great but I'm going to be very honest with you and I think I'm in the minority here but I can't shake this feeling when I saw the full-on trailer I started to worry about this because to me something just does not feel right about what I'm seeing.
@@TheMightyCookieShow For me it’s that, since it takes place between Alien and Aliens, it’ll probably add things to the two movies, but I’m not sure what and whether I like Romulus is greatly dependent on what it would add and whether it might significantly retcon Alien and Aliens. My fear is that it will try and retcon Alien and Aliens with stuff from Prometheus and Covenant. Right now I can just watch the first Alien movies without taking all the stuff from Prometheus and Covenant into account. Now with Romulus I want to be able to watch Alien, Alien Romulus, Aliens (and Alien3) back to back still without having to take Prometheus & Covenant into account. So I don’t really want the black goo and its mechanics to show up, I don’t want Romulus to retcon Alien and Aliens that way. My biggest fear is that in Romulus they salvage the xenomorph from Alien floating around in space and use it for their experiments, which in itself would be okay, but I’m afraid they might want to use it to harvest black goo or something. That way they’d retcon Alien (and Aliens) in such a way that in those movies the Company (through Ash and such) weren’t just after the alien, the ‘perfect organism’ itself (as a bioweapon or something) but only as a side product because then they would primarily be after the black goo. So not only would that retcon Alien and Aliens to add the black goo and such itself but it would also retcon the alien to something secondary. I’d hate that.
I bet lad female is Ripley's daughter but surname is different as sh's married. Also anyon eels notic the alien blood string out in space at the end with the astronaut flying through it.
