This is nothing but an opinion videos with no substance. The way I've seen it used is for self arrest, just like an ice axe, and for climbing (booting) up moderately steep section (again, just like an ice axe). There are plenty of videos on these techniques and I highly recommend you watch these to learn the proper techniques for the use of these tools. It is definitely not an ice axe, nor is it intended for ice climbing.
Dude, I know this was uploaded 5 yrs ago, but deep snow is deep snow, everywhere. But by you're doing fpv, the way you breathe, it amplifies the difficulty by tenfold. I know it because I was there. I ❤ it! Keep ski/snowboard alive!!
skiid all of Jupiter last week. after the small storm they had some nice snow but it looks baked atm. It is crazy how much steeper is in person compared to gopro.
Yeah, I think we are seeing the ski season melt away. There were still pockets of decent windblown on north facing tree runs, but it will be difficult to recover from a melt-off of this magnitude this late in the season. It might be time for the early spring trip to Moab or Escalante. It's hard to accurately capture the pitch of the slope; most of the time, my head is close to parallel with it while I am skiing.
Is this the payday run down to creole back into town? Is it less steep than the "quitting time" section. My wife and I struggled with that but there are only blue runs into town. We usually stick to greens
I wouldn't recommend this product. If you are expecting to take these poles into Black Diamond type of conditions, these are NOT for you. I bought them with the faith that they would stand up in Black Diamond type of conditions. One broke with very little force in a green diamond type of condition. Black Diamond will not stand behind their product. I had to call and email them for a month and they said that I was at fault and put excessive force on the pole. I always pay top dollar for fly rods and they always replace them with no questions. I would recommend Walmart. You will get similar quality for $30 and at least they will replace them if they break.
Last time I came down that chute there was five or six guys speaking French in the middle of the run, they quickly scattered as I was moving through there, conditions were amazing that day, super soft, I'm used to Sierra Cement the majority of the last 45 years so that day was a walk in the park for me. Probably the best line on the hill in my opinion at Alta. This line reminds me of Y Chute at Heavenly Valley only steeper, and at least twice as long if not three times. Stayed at the Peruvian in 2001, and again there at the main lodge at Snow Bird in 2006, need to make it back out that way again soon...
@@gregunderwood4679 I’ve got a pair of early 80s Dynastars that I take up when the snow isn’t great for a bit of fun. They’re very challenging to keep in the sweet spot, but they’re a killer mogul ski because of how easily they snap from side to side. If you can master the old gear, it’s still got a few tricks up it’s sleeve. It’s scary how much they don’t float though. Couldn’t get them to on 15” of Sierra cement. Props to anyone who skied pow on that width.
