I used to live on the island from when I was 4 till when I was 10. It was one of the best places to be growing up! Made a lot of memories there and it always feels so special going back over there! 💜 was meant to be going last month but due to COVID we have had to move the holiday. So we are going in March 2021! 🥰
Yes Southern Vectis run regular a bus service to all of the main towns. For example there are buses from Ryde to Newport every 10-15 minutes, from Newport to Cowes every 10-15 minutes, Ryde to Sandown & Shanklin every 15-20 minutes, Newport to Yarmouth & Freshwater about every 15-20 minutes. The smaller villages and rural areas are more infrequent though, they can be up to 2 hourly services to those places.
Yeh it's not bad if you're travelling between Ryde and Sandown/Shanklin, useless if you need to go anywhere else here, but that's the extent of the train line here as you probably know.
we love the Island visiting at least three times a year since 1970s. For years now stayed at our most favourite b & b Manser near the beautiful Steephill Cove. Cannot praise enough. see trip advisor comments. Back again soon for second stay this year. Love this beautiful Island.
the i.o.w best place ever love the island go every year. best place to stay is caravan park sandhills been going now for 33 years love it there been abroad done that but it dont beat the ISLE OF WIGHT
ventnor has to be the best place on the island for fresh sea food, sea safari (tour of ventnor sea) and for swimming I know this because my dad is the harbour mastor
I must say that I highly recommend Hillside Cottage in the Yaverlands alongside sandown it has a beautiful deck with a highclass barbecue and a beautiful home with two set bedroom and 2 mstr bedrooms 2 bathrooms with relaxing showers and a relaxing countryside walk just a minute away in a hillside what more could you want
St. Catherine's Lighthouse is where the Undercliff either starts or ends and it extends all along the south coast of the Isle of Wight as far east as Ventnor!
A wonderful video and thanks so much for doing it. My only criticism is that you say the best family beach is Sandown/Shanklin. IMHO Ryde beach at Appley is far, far better and it is shame that you have not included Ryde in this video.
I come here all the time to freshwater. Im In love with this place and want to move here. If your ever visiting freshwater, Look for a little bed and breakfast called THE HOO. Stunning little cottage. I always go there and the owners are the sweetest people ever. :)
MrCherubhair1 Maybe if you lived in a mews house in Mayfair or a house in Kensington, but not if you live 10mins walk from where the Tottenham riots took place, i live in North London and it`s one of the most deprived areas in England, like many other places in this country.
@stingmen the islands county town is Newport not Ryde and @ kojackskodak chartering a helicopter to save money on ferry costs is ridicule to say the least, yes the road surfaces are bad but they are ALL in the process of being re-covered.
Thanks for the beautiful footage on an island I visited twice so far. It would have even been more impressive if the video would have been published in HD quality ...
I would also recommend anyone wanting to visit to also charter their own helicopter as you'll save a few bob rather than traveling on the ferries & you wont have to drive on the countries most most diabolical roads
