Hi. I film mostly car washes (lots of which are Kwik Trip since I’m a Kwik Trip car wash nerd. Lol). I’m also an appliance and elevator enthusiast too.
This thing was significant to me as I’ve gone through it most of my life. I like the new system better though. Just sucks that the dryers got replaced with the new motor ones.
Yeah I’m Not A Big Fan of the New Motors. I was the first person to discover that a few years ago when I Filmed a New Mark VII. Awesome video btw. I subscribed to you. :D
My dad operated a car wash with a Mk VII in it (as well as being one of the leading Mk VII techs in my area) and I heard that beautiful note constantly when growing up. It has a strong nostalgia to me. I haven’t heard that sound in years as he’s out of the business and I have hand-washed my cars for years. I love the Mk VII system, with the M-shaped trifoam sprayers and all. Sad to see them being upgraded and replaced.
The previous system here was a 1st gen SoftWash XT. It was my first Mark VII as well as my first car wash with brushes. I was glad they kept the original dryers when it got replaced. But now I’m disappointed that they replaced some of the blowers with the new quieter ones. They don’t sound as awesome now and seem less powerful. But it could’ve been worse. At least they didn’t replace the entire thing.
At least they didn’t replace the whole thing entirely like they did in the other bay. This place is kind of sentimental to me as I’ve been coming here since it opened when I was about 6. Thankfully there’s something half original still here.
It wasn’t either. Just looked on YT to see if it was. If you look more to the side of it, it had a big wide nozzle on top. Whatever it was, it had to be extremely rare.
Gave one of these a try. Bought the $12 wash. Totally missed the wheel wells but did above average on the rest of the car. My rating 4/5 would have been 5/5 if the wheel wells were cleaned
@@jacobs956 The only reason for that complaint is that a tunnel nearby always cleans out the wheel wells unless the attendant is spraying them out with the presoak wand.
Great video, these are amazing car washes. Unique concept too, national chain oversight but the washes are franchises - locally owned. Again, great job with the video
I don’t get why some of these newer Choice wash XTs have the new dryer motors that SUCK but other newer choice washes have the amazing old dryer motors. Weird.
I believe Mark VII introduced the new dryer motors in around mid 2022, which is why some have either the old or new dryer motors. When KT replaces their car washes, I guess the dryers get replaced too depending on the condition they’re in. They seem to keep the original dryers if they’re in good shape to save money. The other bay at this wash thankfully still has the original dryers from the old system. The old ones that were in this bay didn’t seem to age as well as the other bay. My best guess is because the dryers are exposed to the fog coming from the high pressure cycles from the wash system, and the moisture wears them out. The other bay had a SoftWash XT with no real high pressure cycle, so the dryers were exposed to way less fog. If you watch my videos of the other bay, you’ll notice the dryers there sound better than the old ones that were in this bay, and they don’t look as worn.
Ok I get it but just still can’t believe that they would make new motors for what we’re in my opinion the best dryers ever because how about IN THE WINTER when it gets cold out and all of your car doors freeze because of these new motors being so weak than the old motors.
I miss these old Mark vii s I just loved the red brushes and the feeling with the BETTER dryers before this crap when I was little and like you said music to my ears from the old dryers. :(
I’ll miss them too because they were around since I was little and going through them was one of my favorite memories growing up. This one was the last remaining one here in Sheboygan. Now it’s gone. I like the new systems more though. The LED lights make it a more fun experience and the newer top brush seems gentler than the older one. I just don’t care for the new dryers. Thankfully Broadway Avenue, the newest location from about a year ago has the older style dryers. And at North Avenue they kept the original dryers in one bay when it got replaced.
I HATE the new motors on what used to be some of the best dryers made. We just got both of our older choicewash xts replaced to with these exact ones but I think the wash part is still top notch but do not like their too small dryer motors.😡
I don’t like them either. The older dryers were like music to my ears. But based on my experience with the new dryers, I didn’t notice much of a decrease in drying performance, if at all.
This could be an older model. The other bay has the regular label and was probably another manual bay back then. Pulling in you can see where there was probably a pay station on the wall. If that’s the case, they had to have made the bay longer when they converted it to automatic.
Geez, thats one example of the "flashlight effect" that the regular cannon Mark Vii dryers have. Hope the wiper was an easy fix. (FYI, not a wiper-on criticizer in the wash, LOL).
I've never had a good experience with PECO equipment. They're very reliable and robust but just don't do a really good job at cleaning, a SoftGloss MAXX would outperform these tunnels depending on the chemistry
Nice Video! I have a Kwik Trip near my house too with two of these choicewash xts top one a new version (this one that you just filmed) and the older version with the plain red brushes and one of them got the new dryers that suck and are so quiet and with those smaller motors that don’t dry the car as good. So now there’s one bay with good dryers and one bay with the not good news ones.
Thanks! The North Ave location I also filmed used to have an older SoftWash XT and AquaJet XT. I found that an AquaJet XT is actually pretty rare to see at a Kwik Trip. Unfortunately I didn’t get to film the SoftWash, but I got the AquaJet just a couple months before it got replaced with a newer ChoiceWash just like this one. They also replaced the dryers in the former AquaJet bay with the new quiet ones, but thankfully they kept the original dryers in the former SoftWash bay. I noticed that all the older Mark VII dryers sound the same, but have a very small difference to their sound. The ones in the former SoftWash bay are probably the best sounding Mark VII dryers ever. It’s like music to my ears!
Actually another kwik trip that me and my grandpa used to go (mainly during covid) had a soft wash mark vll and the other bay had that exact same aqua jet xt too! Now I can tell that they got those new red doors which I really like but…
I can tell that the spot free rinse water pass was not good at all since i saw that it’s like a spot free soap rinse water pass so that’s why the dryer did horrible drying so you should let the owner know about your experience along with try the right bay to see how it does
4/12/2023 UPDATE: I just found out that starting today, this car wash is going to be demolished and rebuilt. RIP Broadway systems. I wonder what the new car wash will have.

Seems like there are LED lights in the bay! Have you ever tried going here at night to see if the LED lights would be worth filming with the wash or not?
I’ve never been here at night, but it does look cool driving by. I can do another revisit at night if you’d like. Lol. Those lights were added on a couple years ago. It wasn’t like this when I went here in my childhood.
Thank you! This car wash was recently replaced by the way. Check out my before, during, and after video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SrqHKUXiKLg.html
