Sums up society. Everyone must be in a box, be able to be segregated. You can no longer be just a human being. Sad world now there is a Self-identifying Indigenous group that received millions from the feds. If they have actual lineage is irrelevant. Society is forced to acknowledge and validate that they are indigenous and therefore are entitled to free money
I have a question about T and R day. Is it acceptable to insist people rise and sing/play the national anthem after acknowledging the orange shirts in the crowd? Asking for a “friend” who did this and did not see it as a problem. How does one guide the “friend” to understanding it should not happen again?
Banana. I am on this planet only because my mother survived residential school. Due to her trauma in residential school I became a 60’s scoop statistic. I will never get to know my mother because she died too young. I went to University of British Columbia. My first two years were done in Kamloops. I used to sit and do my homework in an orchard, within walking distance to where our UBC classes were held. The building was the former Residential School in Kamloops. The GPR found the 215 unmarked graves in the apple orchard. I never felt scared or sad in that orchard doing my homework as an adult. Nothing felt eerie. I went on to UBC in Vancouver. I became a teacher, and live in the lower mainland. As a teacher, I rarely come across an Indigenous family who is proud to be that. There is a lot of shame. Based on most of these comments, I realized nobody befriended an Indigenous person. If you got this far, type Ally. Then become one to Indigenous people.
It’s really too bad that you try to explain the stages of grief because it made me stop watching this video. You have it all wrong. You should do some research. They are not linear. You don’t complete one at a time. And if you actually go back and do some research, those steps are, grieving your own terminal illness, not accepting the death of someone else.😊
Eugenics is still in act. It’s still happening! The drugs and streets, hired thugs murdering blood quantum. Then create red dress movement. Claiming abuse, when actually we are still being silenced! Corruption and a dangerous game! God sees what the dirty they are dishing! Lies! Real indigenous dakelth. They are killing us ! Eugenics!
Secrets are unfolding. Trying to steal land from real Indians. Spiritual attacks. Using dark forces to destroy our peace! Fucking with gods children! And rid blood quantum to claim the land! Liars,
During running on stadium,I got eagle feather on my chest like someone shooted me on left side, just one, nobody else nothing feathers on ground, 2 eagles, many parrots ,1 peacock ,so many birds spoted in this morning, cool, flowers, beautiful season today on 🇮🇳india, plz do you have any prediction for this? I feels wonder today ❤. . .
My great grandmother told me her grandmother (whom she knew, personally) was a Native of the Blackfeet tribe. I’ve been searching, but cannot find a written confirmation. However, her father would go up from the US to Canada to farm per census records, which seems strange considering the homesteading and farming in the area where the other family stayed.
I am an Inuvialuit first peoples citizen, there is a street celebration in yellowknife, NWT, called Raven Mad Days, I made the rain come out of a cloudless sky, a Dene elser walked across the street, through the crowd, and told me not to do that, I asked her forgiveness, and said that someone needed to rain on their parade, I gave her my cigarettes as an appology, she smiled and accepted them.
You can start by apologizing to the oatman family, then you can apologize for all the churches that were burned down in Canada and all the lives that were ruined because of that bs mass graveyard story.
Its a vigilant, versiile now proven!! vibrant and visualably speaking-something you shouldnt see so it hurts to see us to some people- so treat it as virgin land and virgin seeds.
I personally prefer if you selectively distribute your experienced knowledge somehow too so the advertising that is instilled in us, doesnt come so fast and such a surprise that its shocking... again
Hollywood for most people like myself would have been my first contact with Indian culture. Cowboys and Indian were almost mythical to us as Robin hood was. It cast the native American as an marauding savage, when infact the opposite was true. I have a deep love and respect for my Indian cousins and culture. We stayed on the reservation of the Tsutina nation in Calgary for the period of an indigenous gathering in 20002, it was an absolutely fascinating experience and will always remember. We were humbled by the treatment we received on the reservation. Thanks for sharing, from Aotearoa, New Zealand.
In our country where we celebrate United Nation Month in October. It's not considered Misappropriation. It's celebrating our diversity . We got to dress up like people from all around the world, including but limited to native American costumes. It's sometimes too taxing to entertain adverse reactions where there shouldn't be unless otherwise used in malicious manner.
Well if it isn’t Mr. Walter Ashby Plecker, this guy ignorant beyond belief. This is not a Chief representing his people, this is a skinwalker representing his puppet masters 👺
It’s suspicious that his family’s genealogy wasn’t lost or intentionally obscured, especially when so many families were disconnected from their heritage. He carries the mindset of a European, and the fact that he holds the title of chief is a disgrace to our ancestors.
Unfortunately there is a lot of untruth in this scheme. The propaganda continues. She does not even explain 'truth' or reconciliation, yet tells us it is plainly complicated. We need to move on from the shameful hsitory of our forefathers and Trudeau's divisive rule.
I seriously think we need to go one step higher to make things Right. Which is what reconciliation of the Truth means. The people of this land were unfairly treated. By rhe then King of England who still claims title on theses lands even above the people, their government takes a knee to them. These people here were free of this oppression of supposed Royal blood. And we as Canadians especially thise born here are under the same oppression. What is "Crown land" ? What is reconciliation? To me we must respect thise who have come before us and not tread on their knowledge and understanding because we don't or have not yet understanding its importance. Embrace our differences for in doing so we are made stronger.
This chief's arguments are all 100% disingenuous. The Metiś nation, out of fear of persecution, were forced to go underground for a long, long time. And because the Metiś nation was established by mixed marriages, hundreds of years ago, it's not a fair argument to complain about the complexion and ancestral line of those who identify as Metiś. If there was a limited amount of DNA that you're allowed to possess in order to identify as indigenous, the entire Metiś nation would simply be bred out of existence, it's not fair. These people have the right to exist, and they have the right to be recognized. As a member of the Metiś nation of Ontario. I have the right to my own cultural identity if I so choose. Period. Chief McLeod is it grifter, and should have a lot more respect. Stop gatekeeping indigenous status. Leave the Metiś nation alone P.S- I have personally witnessed individuals monetizing their indigenous status simply because they wanted a free handout from the government. Some communities are even offering one hundred thousand dollar cash handouts for those who register with the indigenous nations. And you're giving US a hard time? Give me a break.
Questions of the day. If 1,000,000 people receive 32 BILLION dollars annually. Why are they still living in squalor? Why are their hands still extended begging for more?
I had heard about Orange Shirt Day on social media and hence 'Truth and Reconciliation Day.' I CERTAINLY NEVER learned ANYTHING of the sort about residential schools in school!!
I think the Truth and Reconciliation Commission not only gives people hope for changing the future of Canada, but it is a great model that can be implemented in ALL PLACES of such harmful colonization tactics similar to residential schools, etc.
Chief Macleod needs to be fact checked. He makes several false statements that discredits his authority on the subject. He erroneously claims anyone with mixed blood after settlement is a potential MNO citizen. Not true. Only those of mixed blood pre-settlement are MNO citizens, especially after the registry reviewed all its registrants. There are other factors he didn't talk about, like culture and community recognition. Another odd thing he suggests is that First Nations oral storytelling is superior to Metis oral storytelling and recorded history. First Nations storytelling was greatly degraded by the Indian Residential School system, so how is that reliable source on its own or as a substitute for written history that documents Ontario's Metis history, such as community petitions, military records, Census data, birth records, etc? That doesn't make sense and why should people outside our community even think they have expertise on our community history, when they were distinct? This interview raises alarm bells that his theory is highly flawed. He certainly attempts to be a First Nation storyteller, but a good story has to have some truth in it, which his didn't. Nice try.
