Does someone with an aaortic valve that is "normal" still have some form of risk of an aaortic complication? Or are only people with dialation at risk as well? Thank you for this video, have had a hard time sleeping after finding out yesterday of my 4.0cm dialation. Docors visit is over a week away.

Hi i have a quick question im 29 and pretty much all my life ive been having palpitations and constantly feeling my heartbeat and recently theyve been getting more and more i ended up having scans and i found out i have a bicuspid aortic valve with severe regurgitation only 30% is going through normally and am needing valve replacement when i have the operation will it stop all these palpitations or will i still have them?
@Thekeyholeheartclinic
@Thekeyholeheartclinic 3 дня назад
Thanks for this: palpitations may discontinue but depends on their nature Is your aorta dilated? Has an assessment been made regarding repair of valve?

So as a general rule you would not do a TAVI (or TAVR) on a 70-year-old patient with Aortic Regurge and a mild Mitral Valve Regurge, even if that patient is otherwise in good health and physical condition? Primarily because you want to avoid warfarin?

Not the cholesterol is the problem doctor, the sugar yes and then triglycerides and low HDL. Our body makes cholesterol to heal the inflammation in our body and so the more u lower it the more our body makes it . Plus if your digestion is good and you are active and sleep well then numbers don’t mean a lot . You don’t need chemicals and procedures to stay healthy ❤

I have a dilated ascending aorta measuring 4.0 cm, with no family history of this condition. Additionally, my aortic valve is trileaflet. Could you provide information on the average number of years it typically takes for a dilated ascending aorta to progress from 4.0 cm to 5.5 cm? Furthermore, are there any minimally invasive surgical options available for treating a dilated ascending aorta, rather than open-chest surgery?"

I am 40 years old, had an aortic valve replacement six months ago, so far everything is fine. I suppose in 15-20? years I will have to undergo another open-heart surgery and then, after next 15 years probably TAVI? But medicine is evolving extremely fast, maybe everything will be completely different. What is your guess of real durability of this valve in younger patients? Thank you very much for the answer and this video as well!

After the valve has been replaced, how do you return the heart chamber to its proper sized to avoid heart rhythm issues? I was forced to live with my leaking valve from birth until it almost killed me just before I turned 36 37, I have never been able to hold a job because of it, and I am still out of work and waiting on yet another heart procedure to try, no promises, to get my heart beating right again, due to an enlarged heart chamber. My ex-cardiologist knew of the leaking bicuspid aortic valve from the day he took me on as an adult patient, despite this, he left it in me until as I said, it almost killed me via heart failure, my life is a living hell as a result, no job, no money, stuck on benefits, possibly for the rest of my days.

@RCINFORMER
@RCINFORMER Месяц назад
Mechanical valves don't necessarily last FOREVER. Yes, they last much longer, however there is the lifetime blood thinner requirement & about a 25 to 30 year lifespan of the valve itself. Other disadvantages to the Mechanical valve for the AORTIC position: if any of the flappers stick due to calcification at an older age, you are now looking at a 30% mortality rate for the emergency operation that you now need asap & it must be REPLACED with a REOPERATION that you may not be healthy enough to endure at an older age.... a Mechanical valve is not a candidate for a valve-in-valve TAVR replacement in the future the way that a tissue valve can accept a future TAVR.... One outstanding valve available for anyone is a Edwards Magna Ease bovine tissue valve...

I'm 36 years old considering this valve. I personally am really intrigued by the new technology. It does annoy me that we cannot tell with certainty whether younger patients can be stable with this in the long term. However, if combined with regular fasting to clean up the arteries and blood, I don't see why this valve can't last me a long time. There's no cardiologist on the planet who is going to advocate for this regiment, and therefore there are no studies out there that would prove this to be helpful (even though we know fasting is helpful for people in good health). I can't see fasting being good while being on blood thinners, which means my entire body would suffer by not being able to fast. The very reliability of a mechanical valve also means I would have to cut this good lifestyle habit, and this habit could be the thing that helps these new tissue valves last longer. Having a bicupsid valve is super annoying and I'm convinced that no one has the correct answer. Leaning towards what I trust will be good for me and taking the risk of no long term data. I talked to people at Edwards and they claim there's a patient who got a bio valve in the 1970's and it is STILL doing well. What makes this person an outlier? I wish we knew, but lifestyle choices must be a factor!

Hi doctor and thank you for the precious informations , regarding these new valves will there be a possibility to use them to replace the mitral valve ? or is there any mitral specific clinical trial currently . Thanks
@Thekeyholeheartclinic

There are equivalent valves for the mitral Position but the data is early and we await longer term verification of durability. If your mitral valve can be repaired then this is the better solution to replacement

The data still suggests that mechanical is the preferred choice in young age. Having said this your comments are very good and many younger patients are preferring to follow tissue valve by mini surgery between ribs, and TAVI or traditional mini breastbone repeat surgery in later life depending upon clinical suitability

3:04 I had this valve fitted in Feb 2021. It was still in the clinical trials phase. Nice that I wasn't even asked to participate, just found out 4 weeks after surgery. I had been asymptomatic prior to surgery but post surgery, I was hit with multiple symptoms from dizzyness, constant fatigue, breathless and even fainted. So much for a advanced valve. If Edwards want their donkey valve back, they can take it any time. My experience is nothing but negative. I wish that I never gave my ill informed consent.

Hello doctor. I am a 29 year old male. I am 180cm tall and 89kg. This year i was diagnosed with a dilated ascending aorta at 4.2 cm. At first my doctor told me its normal amd that its because of bodybuilding and heavy weights. I did not like the response i got and i went to another doctor. He did an echogram and told me that i had an biscupid aortic valve which for the moment works fine and that caused my dilation. He also recommended a ct scan. I did one which showed my ascended aorta at 4.16 cm with no calcifications and no sign of disection. The doctor told me to excercise reguraly(running,sqimming,cycling,walking and moderate lifting). I have 2 queations 1- is it considered aneurysm at 4.2? 2- is having sex dangerous because it can spike your blood pressure for a certain amount of time?
