hey man just checking in, how have you been! last i saw you was on over watch customs a LONG time ago. I figured id update you on my life also. me and my girlfriend hit our 2 years last month, im officially 18 now too so thats pretty sick. so far my summers been pretty good but I'm not ready for senior year dawg its gonna stink so much. i hope to hear back from you! :)
I hate playing tank, I always default back to Orisa because everything melts me. I hate playing Orisa, but if I don't survive, I feel bad that the rest of my team is getting mad so I play Orisa. It is boring.
As someone who is picking up genji, and plays on console, im not having fun like in half my games bc people cant aim for shit so they pick bullshit characters like moira, zarya etc and its just painful. Plus i'm just not great yet, but i did get a 4k nanoblade, and i tell ya, its the fucken most exhilarating shit lol
Player Agency. Mobility Genji Dash is instant, Rein charge takes time to start, and there is a plethora of characters that can disrupt it with very low skill. Genji also has the ability to climb a wall or dash into the sky and just not be in a fight, when Rein is stuck, they rely on their team, or they just don't get to play. Priority Rein and Genji dive someone. Rein is getting discorded, nade and slept, speared and spun, magnetic grenade, icewalled in, coach/outbursed away - petal platformed or pulled away - everyone that has a cooldown is more likely going to save it to deal with you. Tanks in general get more focus fire, and Reins healthpool while large, is more likely to be divided by multiple players wanting to take it away. Genji while they can get focused, aren't the same focus. A tank dies, a team generally suffers much more than when a DPS dies. Counterability: Good genjis will see counterpicks. Though if the skill dif is enough, they can still wreck their counters. Moira and Brig to use as examples, are still valid targets for a Genji that is able to consistently dash headshot - and in the hands of a lowskill player, you are going to see much less effect from those characters - Moira might fade to you, then throw a damage orb that is asking to be deflected. Even in highskills counters, you have more authority of what is going to happen. Genji not having much presence for a moment doesn't swing the game that hard. Reins counterpicks are easy to play, but unlike Genjis, aren't necessarily easy to deal with for even the best Rein players. It's comparatively easy to pin a Rein down.
I think genji got much less fun to play and play against after the hitbox changes. He became way easier to get kills to the point I can just randomly play him with 0 experience and do fine
I feel like with the amount of things that just completely negate Ball’s movement related value with barely any effort, ball should not be that high. Especially if you’re putting rein so low for having counters. This is coming from somebody who played ball a LOT in around season 2 or 3, the amount of times you get hindered, slowed, trapped, slept, knifed, doomfist-ed, hit in the face with a rock, hooked, or generally any form of booped is way more than people who don’t play ball seem to think, and all of them completely remove your momentum, which is the most valuable thing you have. Yes, you are mobile, which makes you slightly harder to hit, but you are also the biggest target in the whole game, and have nothing in your kit to protect you from direct hits of CC. There’s only 1 other tank that doesn’t have a way to protect from CC, and that’s doomfist (one of the smallest tanks, while also being arguably just as mobile in combat.) You’d think that all that extra stuff that isn’t getting slept or trapped isn’t that bad, cause you can still just roll away, and yeah, sometimes you can get away, but the thing is if you have a well coordinated enemy team, they see you (a giant metal circle in the middle of the team) and they see that you now lost all your momentum? There’s no escaping that. Usually they can take you out in less than a couple seconds, even with the overhealth. Basically, this means that in most situations, you will never be able to pull off the most fun part about him, that being swinging up over the team, slamming down, and getting some picks before making a grand escape. All this aside, the biggest thing that makes ball less fun is he was designed in OW1, for OW1. As in, he was made with 6v6 in mind, to be a secondary, that goes into the back lines and causes chaos, back when the team has to split their attention between the two tanks and you have a good chance of making it out of the back lines alive. He was not made for solo tanking. He is not supposed to stand in the frontlines and protect the team. He does not work in 5v5. They tried to fix this with the shield thing moving to teammates, but it’s not even relevant in the back lines, and it barely even does anything in the front lines, so…yeah it didn’t work
Counters do not scare me. I do not back down. I have taken on a full team of rein counters and still come out on top. They can bring whatever thing they think will give them the edge they so dearly need but it won’t matter! I do not falter! I LIVE WITH HONOR AND DIE WITH GLORY!!! Anyway yeah no rein is literally the most fun hero in the game for me, and no amount of counter plays or nerfs will ever change that. The feeling of charging into a full team and wrecking house is something I’ve never gotten for any other hero on the same level as I have for rein. This hero is the primary reason I stuck around playing Overwatch, and I am insulted that he is this low. I mean also just like most rein mains in general are cool people who play the game for fun more than anything. I love it when I meet another rein cause we usually have really good duels and generally we have a great time with it. Side note: that first speech wasn’t all theatrics, there has actually been one time I took on a full team of rein counters, and it was on Eichenwalde of all places. It was a Mauga, Bastion, Reaper (before he was nerfed against tanks,) zen, and Ana. They didn’t even make it past the first objective. But all that aside, win or lose, I always have a great damn time as rein. Sometimes I even end up befriending the enemy team and just kinda hanging out with them in their backlines if they’re waiting for their full team to regroup. I like a fair fight.
Orisa in D... If a tank with the biggest sustainability in the game is boring in your hands- then you are on crack. Try actually playing the character, be active, move, pressure, spin tanks towards your team, but dont just stand still waiting for "fun" to appear out of nowhere. Her kit lets you to do all kinds of things
What rank is this? Ive played for so long and i really disagree with the list. Orisa is still a pretty strong character, hog is a little worse but not that much, doom just.. eh.. hes not doing much at least imo since he still has struggles v cc by a lot. I can keep going but eh
I still prefer orisa over mauga any day, and that isn't true. You do walk and fight wit orisa, mauga is the one where you just stand there. He is LITERLLY built like a wall.
