I was going to retrieve my trail cam from the woodland the other day, walking through the trees a sharp branch went into my right eye, luckily it went above the eye hit the lid and went in above the eye, it scratch the lid and my eye was unharmed, 1cm lower and I could have lost my eye, was extremely lucky so I’m now never entering woodland without eye protection, hope your eye recovery went well buddy,
These popped up on my ebay suggestions recently. Looks like a good lightweight tent for a reasonable price. Wish there was a bugnet on the door is all.
Old thread but here is my contribution. In the UK i bought some 25mm oval pvc conduit from Toolstation for £2.32 for a 3 metre length and just cut it to size. No need to flatten anything and the blade sits neatly inside the conduit. I would assume that this can be bought in the US as well from electrical/hardware suppliers. Hopefully somebody finds this useful to them.
We'd use the inner bark we tore off in strips from standing wild grapevine back in my home turf. Rett it, get one end going while the other end is weighted (or held by a sibling!) and boom. We had swinging ropes.
Try a Trike, you will love it, no more back, shoulders, wrist, rear-end problems or balancing problems. I get to see all around me instead the road in front of me.
Hey RedDog, if you heat up petroleum jelly into a liquid and use that first instead of the charcoal fluid, they will be extremely waterproof. Figured I would share the knowledge with ya.
You are not suppose to put the cup inside the stove when boiling water or cooking. You're supposed to turn the cup around and sit it on top. Not inside it.
The Kershaw Leek has been in my pocket everyday for over 17 years. Retired from the fire service. I use it every day. Mostly to open Amazon boxes now… 😂👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼
I like to put castor oil on a knife, the castor oil does not get gummy it remains clear, and it makes a solid film on the blade. just fyi, but I think it should be cleaned off before food prep use, otherwise its probably fine if it is the food grade variety. aka its used as a laxative, but in a much larger amount than a thin coat on a knife blade.
In my opinião, I think a semi serrated knife is a good choice. In many situations we need that kind of blade. Perhaps the best choice is to have a good knife, to be used in specific situations that demand or not, a serrated blade.
Good discussion. 👍🏼 Wether I agree or disagree with some of the things you said, there is one thing that you said towards the end of the video that earned my subscription: “…an everyday carry knife is going to be your survival knife…” I have been preaching that concept for decades. It seems rather simple, and I suppose most folks already know it, but just how many people do you see who carry a substantial enough knife for a real survival situation? My edc knives rotate between the TOPS Prather War Bowie and the Brakimo. Depending on where I’m going. And my TOPS Armageddon is always close by in my Jeep. It’s always good to have these discussions with people who actually use their equipment on a daily, or semi daily, basis. I enjoyed your talk. Wonder why it took six years to show up in my feed…. 👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸
Hey, this is Brant from Mountain Crossings. Nice presentation of Knives. My EDC is a Mora Companion... hard to beat for the price and nearly indestructible. I hope that your new Hyperlite pack is treating you well! If you have any questions about it, feel free to call me at the store anytime 👊
I'm really entertained at the fact that the dog is sitting on the couch while the man is crawling around on the floor! thanks for the video enjoyable and informative. thanks for the help
you can take a large grape vine and put them in water then bash them lightly with one rock under and a rock in ur hand and go all the way down however long a vine you have and then after it is pliable do his first method with the tiny strands that come from the vine and you will have a damn good string

I can't believe this video is 7 years old! I just found it today while looking for information on restoring an old "Cold Handle" #39 high carbon steel camp skillet. Thanks a lot! Best video on seasoning I've seen yet.
Ferrocerium, Misch metal, and ferro rod all mean the same thing, as far as I can tell. This kind of rod is also called by and sold under some incorrect names, like “fire steel” and “flint and steel.” Those latter names belong to a different fire-making technique.
Think you could do a double layered one? Those military blankets are about the thickest commercially available heavy melton wool fabric and those Filson cruisers have been outright unaffordable for a while. Would be the perfect homesteading skill to make those. I was just reading up on the old fur trapper capote coats and got the idea.
Thanks for watching the delivery of the main shed to our off grid property. It’s fascinating how they get that 14x40 shed on the trailer and down the road. Please be sure to like and subscribe to make sure you don’t miss any adventures. www.RU-vid.com/RedDogBushcraft
