For it's time of the mid-2000s, The War At Home really dealt with this topic in the perfect way. It addressed a very real issue and for the first time I know of talked about the fact that people are gay when they're still teens. It made parents and their kids aware of gay people and the struggles they often face and did so in a funny and mildly "American cinservative" way. Even today half of all homeless youth are gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender because of the fact they are so often kicked out of their homes. From a gay boy who grew up at this time - this meant something to me.
1:51 I can say that's true xD, but we usually start coming out with random people because is like barf, we feel horrible and we don't know when it will come out
I'd say the way they handled Kenny's coming out was fairly good. Treated with humor and yet it has heart. Father did right in sticking by Kenny when his family kicked him out the house for his orientation. Its a sad situation thats too real to life for many adolescents. The Trevor Foundation definitely is a great organization for such instances. I wish there was more.
"I just threw out some horndog 🐶 that was giving my man Kenny here, the queer eye!" Oh my god! DEAD! ROFL! 😂🤣🤣 Michael Rappaport, that son of a bitch kills me! 😁 I know him from _Deep Blue Sea_ with Saffron Burrows and Samuel L. Jackson! Does anyone else remember him in that movie? 😀
Unfortunately, these shows were practically mirrors to what is out there. You would be surprised how many families are still in 2019 homophobic and racist.
So I was searching for the Cheers pilot, and I got on a never ending stream of whatever this show is. I don't know if this is intentional or an accident, but the clips of this show are acting exactly like email spam and therefore my reaction to it is just as negative. From the little I've been forced to watch now (since it pops up immediately after every clip I'm choosing to watch) I wouldn't choose to watch it, but springing your show in people not actually looking for it is not necessarily the way to gain viewers unless you only want the kind of viewers who also believe that nigerian princes want to send them money through email. Please get the f*ck off my youtube queue!! I do not want to watch you.
there you are... day after day. Working for minimal wage, fending off the advancements of your 300 pound manager, until one day you say - Meeh, maybe that fat animal's not so bad!! :D :D :D :D :D hahahah
