CreativeMornings is a breakfast lecture series for the creative community - and so much more. We’re the world’s largest face-to-face creative community; hosting local events every Friday, virtual FieldTrips every week, and jobs postings via the CreativeGuild.
In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: a free talk and breakfast one Friday morning a month.
Today, our community gathers in cities around the world to enjoy an inspiring talk, coffee and breakfast. Our volunteer hosts and their teams organize local chapters that not only celebrate a city’s creative talent, but also create an open space to connect with other creative individuals.
We believe that everyone is creative and everyone is welcome. We hope you enjoy this archive of past talks.
Long ago I used to have a backdoor into the websites I made. I once replaced a website with a message saying, "the website has been disabled for failure of paying the bills". I got payed within the hour and the website was back immediately. I do not recommend that way of doing business though. I learned then to always write contracts and never do business with someone unwilling to sign a contract.

I used to be scared of asking for contracts like it would make the opportunity go away or whatever irrational excuse I was giving myself, but now I have learned that its in the interest of all honest parties to have it. Let me repeat that, "all honest parties to have it." An honest client or employee is doing everything they can to honor the arrangement. I have found in general that when people try to get around contracts or binding documents, that on some level they have a plan or potential to be dishonest. In today's environment, its huge with online transactions. Utilize 3rd parties, hold money in escrow, whatever you want to do that basically stops people from being shady. Honest people will agree to it, shady people will come up with a list of reasons they can't do it. As the presentation says, when that happens, just walk away.
A very eloquent speech, understandable not only for people suffering from chronic pain.What a relief that one can be active in their pain management through Art, giving them the control over their threatment apart from the drug dosages prescribed to them by their medical doctors.Thank you for the clear and illustrative explanation.🙌
If I'm a business, company, corporation, whatever with a very good law firm on retainer, and the work you've done for me isn't satisfactory or doesn't completely fullfill all contract terms adequately for any reason, my reply would be "f*ck you, sue me" ... and good luck with that, because my pockets are going to be MUCH deeper than yours and my lawyers MUCH BETTER than yours. The only smart thing for you to do is take the "L" and move on.
Ive just gone through a shitty client refusing to pay for work and went with a new designer, effectively screwing me over for the last time (multiple things prior that was taken advantage of) and ive essentially 'Professionally" told her fuck you pay me. Thanks.

when I did building contractor work my boss said that he had to bend over backwards for him to get us a job to do. We effectively became molly maids for half a year. I just ended leaving and getting a job elsewhere that isnt on a maybe. Dont get me wrong I still do contractor work on the side but its on my pay scale no one else's and a lot of time people go to a cheaper person but shortly after call me to fix it.....I charge double only if its someone I gave a price to and they come back to me to fix someone else's mess.
