Was that "only 60 times" just the first commercial? 'cause they made many separate commercials with different union workers but in the same style and with the same song ending it...
Would you believe this iconic anthem of women's equality was actually written by TWO MEN?!? And Natalie Douglas absolutely knocks it out of the park with her incredible voice. The lesson it teaches is now in danger of being forgotten; we need to make it popular again while women still CAN vote.
Loved your rendition of the song. If I remember correctly the ILGWU commercial aired during some kind of TV special that got high viewership. That's probably why something that only aired 60 times seems so ubiquitous.
So, I love Never Never Never. Natalie you crossed your fingers before starting song, Love That Jester!! This song requires a good voice, but most of all having fun and expression. Natalie, you made me feel Never, Never, Never. Though you are pleasant on the eye, I listened two more times without the visual and the emotion and voice carried the song. Love your interpretation.
I use to go see Natalie sing at a piano Bar in NYC when I lived there and she is an amazing singer and a really beautiful person inside and out . I just adore her and enjoyed her songs for many years . Was wonderful to find her here on RU-vid it brought back great memories of going to see her sing
WHY....Doesn't BLM, just for example, have YOU Singing For Them, instead of threatening to Burn This S*** Down! Great Memories, chokes me up. BLESS YOU !
This was wonderful, and an inspired pairing. Saturday Night Live's parody of "Look for the Union Label" on behalf of the Marijuana Growers Union of America now feels like more of an homage, given all that this country's working class has lost over the last 40+ years. Ms. Douglas, I think I caught you with a catch in your throat at the start of one of the I'd hammer/ring/sing phrases for "love between my brothers and my sisters," and I noticed that my throat caught just a stanza or two later at the same spot as I was singing along at the top of my voice. Thanks again.
In addition to being a wonderful singer and musician, you such a gifted storyteller. Your stillness and truth are so powerful. Thank you, as ever, for your work.
Hello Paul Stewart. My home club is Birdland Jazz Club in NYC. I also perform all across the country and internationally. Hopefully we'll get back to it sooner rather than later. 😊
